As an experienced player of video games of this genre, I foresaw Vanguard:Saga of Heroes as the next MMO that will hit the shelves and turn us all into it.
Im very excited about this game and would love to hear your comments about it; the good, the bad and the ugly, feel free to post!.

Well imo its the "hardcore" gamers last hope for an actual commercial mmorpg thats going to reach 200+k (hopfully not over 500k) and its being made by people who put together the mmorpg i spent SO much time into and miss so much.. Also alot of awesome new aspects.
Most likely it'll be a real test of Microsoft's gaming integrity. By that I mean it remains to be seen whether or not they'll be willing to sit by and let Vanguard squeek by with a very small userbase(by WoW's standards) or if they'll start tinkering with the design to bring in more players. The fact that Brad already seems to be lightening up on the Vision suggests that maybe WoW is already having an influence.

McQuaid still stands by his "Vision" although some people have felt cheated because he is adding a few things into the game that would be considered "dumbing" down like the lines that lead back to a corpse for instance. However if the leveling is slower, the dungeons are not instanced, and the challenge is greater with less chance for someone to solo from 1-60 ala WOW then I think it still will fill a niche everyone is missing now.
I think also for old traditional EQI fans who hated EQII that many will be impressed to see starting cities for every race return to MMORPGs as well as numerous continents instead of a few boxed off islands ala EQII. The Lore and History for this game is top notch.
Lastly to answer the OPs questions. Some of the best artists and most experienced developers and leaders in the business are working on this game. Microsoft is funding it. It is using a modified Unreal engine for graphics and it is most importantly being overseen by someone who knows Fantasy instead of some suit saying Hurry, Hurry, Hurry wheres the cash?
Looking over at the list to the side of this page I doubt any other game can claim that much. If anyone can "Dethrone" WOW it would be Vanguard in my opinion but with it being a "niche" game I think more than likely you will see a smaller but more mature and enjoyable community. Brad has aleady said that if it reaches the 450,000 of EQI that it still would be considered a success so not every game has to hit 5 million. Many of that 5 million I could do without anyway
Two words: NO INSTANCES! That is my reason and why Vanguard is going to be MY game.
Remember how much fun it was to just hang out in the dungeons in non-instanced games? Getting exp., questing and killing aside, it's just a better more social experience when everyone is in the same dungeon. I used to love just hanging out in HHK in EQ. Helping people who needed it, putting pissy peons in their place in /ooc, ahh the majesty.
I just can't wait!
Maybe that was fun for you but I don't think most people really enjoyed spending hours sitting at the entrance of a dungeon LFG. To each their own but I think it's been overwhelmingly proven that most players would rather play the game instead of standing around spamming /ooc. I wouldn't stake a dollar on the notion that Vanguard will never have instances. I think it's more likely to happen than not.

I would suggest that you should check out another game cause this game won't be for you at all. Brad has said on numerous occasion that instancing has no place in Vanguard. There's plenty of games that have instancing now. This game is for people that don't like the newer style of games on the market that have instant zones. In a way it will be a "old school" game with a new 3rd generation MMO twist.

while i do see where you are coming from, alot of people do want to socialize in a game.....hell some people could care less if they do anything at all but meet new people and help them/socialize with them.
sure alot of people don't care about that, they want to just grind content and couldn't care less if they talk to anyone. but I(and alot of other people) are not one of these people, yes i like to grind content to, but as well as have a positive community and socialize/meet new people.
instancing hinders this....but you could be right, it is possible that some day vanguard could have instancing. but right now there is no plan to implement it so until there is I'm not going to worry about it.
read this http://www.vanguardsoh.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1044304#post1044304 then come back and talk to me about the vanguard/soe fiasco.....
What do instances have to do with getting into groups?

I think the problem with most supporters of instancing is that they have nothing to base a great modern non-instanced game on. EQI was a great game but it was laden with problems dealing with group hunting, long waits of sitting waiting for a spawn to pop (two weeks or longer in some cases) and of course the training and kill stealing of Dungeons. These were the reason people began to use instancing but Vanguard is saying that they want the community feel of EQI but will do away with many of the problems listed above that lead to instancing as a alternative. In EQI's early days they didn't have the technology or the foresight to do certain things but now their are other ways other than giving people total segregation to allow for dungeons to be fun but also to be shared.
