BFR's are balanced now, they are no longer over powered. Well since I left they where underpowered but the new development team is doing a great job.
I hope the best for Planetside, it's a good solid title as well as one of the first MMOFPS. Have fun everyone who's getting in their Cannon Fodder program I'm sure you'll have a blast regardless of which server you get on.

Ok, I downloaded this game a while back, and I seriously didnt like it due to the old and crappy graphics, but looking at that video it allmost looks like they had a fix or something! Have they had a serious overhaul on the engine?
BFR's are indeed nerfed and are pretty rare on the battlefield.. you will sometimes see 3 BFR's tops on the same time.. the overpowered vehicle now is the switchblade

How's the 10-day trial work? I click the link, enter my station ID, and it tells me, "You currently do not have an active paying subscription for PlanetSide(tm)." Then asks for a game key - If I had a game key, why would I be asking for a free trial?
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
Its free keys for your friends that you can give out if you have an account.
Don't worry about BFRs, im subbed to this game and they are not that much of threat anymore.
I understand some peoples apprehension about BFR's, yes they are very ominous, and meanacing looking and can be a force to recon with on the battlefield, but nothing like they use to be. Unles they are heavily supported by other armor and ground troops BFR's are no more a danger than any other piece of armor. I fear mossies and reavers more than BFR's.
That is the thing about PS, if your side doesn't field the right combination of units to counter the opposing forces your side will have a very tough time of it. Tactics and strategy are becoming more and more important in this game, you can't just "zerg" continents any longer. I have seen it countless times where one side thinks they have the other side beat because they have the numbers only to get spanked by a force of fewer players.
Planetside graphics are 3 years old, but if you have the rig that can run it in all it's glory, Planetsides graphics are still quite impressive.
Anyway, the new recruit program will be rolling out on Feb 14th, everything indicates that that date is still getting the green light, and you'll be able to play for "free" for up to one year. That means totally free game play for 12 months people - One "Year of War".
You'll be able to experience virtual war on a scale unlike anything you've ever encountered in any online game to date. To this day no game, let me repeat that, no game has been able to duplicate the types of battles you'll encounter in this game. It is the type of intense game play that very few games can deliver and Planetside does it like no other.

I'm a little confused, sorry if this is a dumb question, but "play for free" meaning no subscription, but we still need to buy the game? Or is it a free download somewhere? All I see are links to Direct2Drive, which overcharges for it, last I checked.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
i got a few questions about this free play deal. How are they going to distribute the game? could i just download the whole client before the day of free play so i can get to the action right away? and is there some site that has good guides and forums for the game? I'm confused about how the br6 stuff works and about builds. k thx
Heh, I may have to dust off my old character and bring him back into the fray. Last time I logged in a few months ago, they were calling in for support because of a "huge battle" on one of the planets. I jump in, ready to go, to find a 20 vs. 20 fight

Definitely wasn't like the days of old.
Best fight ever in a MMORPG/FPS, for me, was in Planetside. Fought 4+ hours over a bridge by one of the stations we were holding (NS vs. TR). There must have been 200+ players out there easily in tanks, APC's bombers, fighter, you name it. It was wild.
I hope this new incentive will bring fresh blood back into that game and breathe life back into it.

Been some really good base fights with fairly even pops as well as
One quick question though did you mean NC or VS?
How man Pop locks? Last time I played last month they still were able to Poplock atleast 1 cont at prime time on Emerald.....
BTW some of you post your toon names please.. I will be playing shortly and I want to know who I will be killing :P

Heh, sorry about that...meant NC. I am hopefully gonna be checking this out this weekend. My in game name in BaronJuJu, a BR 18/CL2 from launch days before the BFR's and such.

I love FPS so you know I'll be there. I'll even be nice and use my mmorpg.com name for my character so that all the FFA PvP dickheads that I've argued with on this board will be able to find me. It might not be till the 15th since I got the first draft of an essay due on tuesday and the final on thursday
And to think, I was gonna name my char Fagator in order to draw fire......
