We are also very excited to be making the switch, it will help us a lot in terms of what we can do and how far we can push the engine while making Pantheon!
Originally posted by sylentnyte I agree, the only thing giving me hesitation about this game was the very dated look. The new screens and unity 5 visuals have got me excited again!
Glad to hear it Sylemtnyte! and we haven't even made the full switch to Unity 5 yet so they will improve even more over the next few months

What's a PBR? I googled but got:
Professional Bull Riders
Pabst Blue Ribbon
and Petroleo Brasileiro S.A.
And of course my first thought, PBR Street Gang from Apocalypse Now...
But yeah the video showed some really impressive graphics!

Physically Based Rendering. I learned a bit about it when Star Citizen re-did all their ships with PBR.

Dullahan posted a link to the video here although I'm pretty sure this is Unity 4? I don't have a link to the Unity 5 migration but I bet someone will post

Haha!
It's short for Physically Based Rendering (PBR) that Unity3D uses in Unity 5

Yes that is still Unity 4 with tweaks pushing the renderer as far as we can but we will be making the change to Unity 5 over the next few months.

Ah OK, that makes sense since they have been talking about taking unity assets and laying on custom textures and rendering. This stuff is all over my head but I'm liking the direction this is going.

Thanks for the clarification Kilsin. Graphics is my weak spot aside from appreciating the good stuff. Even the Unity 4 stuff looks great to me - so if it's only going to get better, well icing on the cake. I'm still amazed at the moving foliage and the fog. So cool.

I'd love to see how that looks. That last graphics update video was already fairly impressive.
Looking really good. I've messed with unity for awhile it is pretty fun. I managed to get basic combat, health, exp, leveling ect ect on my own. I wanted to use an Xbox style controller. But, I got frustrated trying to setup a proper UI and gave up.

You're welcome
It does looks really good and seeing it first hand looks even better! The video even at 1080p can't show you what it truly looks and feels like, it does a good job of giving you a good idea though!

I can't wait either, I think most of the team are excited to see how far we can push it!

Nice job Lioki, it's much harder than it looks, isn't it!
TBH I don't find it difficult, just frustrating. I have everything in my head how it should look, feel in game, and can't get it past my keyboard onto the screen. So frustrating. I wanted scaleform UI. it's not something seen in an RPG setting and I know it would be awesome if implemented properly. Also I cannot animate, so pretty much everything I was after I couldn't create and don't know where to go to get.

Yeah I understand the struggle mate, that is why I am so impressed watching our team work, I can;t do any of it so save my life but it's certainly awesome to watch the magic happen!
