Is this game not worth trying

I see that many people are upset with the changes to this game; which I totally understand if they saw all that they had worked for wiped out overnight.
But I was wondering whether there is anything to recommend this game to a totally new player... on the face of it, it seems like it could be fun (a new universe to explore).. but on the other hand, if there is no community, and the actual gameplay is dull, maybe I won't bother putting in the hours to find out for myself.
I would be interested in any dispassionate points of view (if that is possible at this angry stage...)

The games a mess, we don't even know what SOE/LA are going to do and the producers letter is missing? Maybe they fired the producer
They might be working on changing the game again for all we know.
Stay clear from it, not because i used to play but because it's very buggy and unplayable.

There are so many bugs that the game is pretty much unplayable. Look up publish 27 it's mostly bug fixes. I believe they are things that should have been fixed before the NGE was pushed into live.
Basically, it's not worth paying for. You'll get so far in a profession and then realize a NPC you need to complete a quest is missing. I'm not sure if they ever got obi wan to spawn either or if Julio Torres is still waiting off camera at AOTS waiting for him to show up.
There are so many things wrong with the game that it's not at all fun to play. Not to mention the community is at odds, people who love the NGE vs. those who hate it. It's also a giant whine fest over on their boards because there are so many game breaking bugs, clunky controls, and obsolete professions. The people who are supposed to be communicating to the players have taken a vow of silence but enjoy deleting threads instead of giving honest answers.
Until things are worked out with bugs and the community I would say to avoid it at all costs.

You will most likely recieve an average of 10-15 people telling you the game or the company is not worth it and about 2 people will come along and tell you differently.
I have experienced both the company and the game and neither are worth it in my honest opinion, stay away from it like it's the plague unless you that damn bored and have to much money and have no problems supporting a lying, poorly managed company that has horrible customer relations/service.
It's riddled with bugs and broken elements and always has been and they have never managed to produce a non beta type game out of it yet, and it's going on 3 years now being sold as a finished MMORPG.

Played SWG for two whole years - the NGE came and I left it! It is no fun anymore. The Entertainer/Artisan professions don't have a meaning - they are obsolete

It WAS and incredible world to explore. When I first started to play, I died constantly and was amazed by the world. It took me a YEAR to see everything, since back then the world was dangerous as well as an adventure. Now a LVL one, day one player can go anywhere with no danger.
The game is broken beyond belief. I'd avoid it, but if you have some cash to through around, go for it. Just expect nothing and be ready to play another game soon.

anyway all, thanks for the advice... I had downloaded it, and tried it for an hour or two - which is nothing, I know, but enough to see that I was required to shoot a bunch of mobs kind of standing around doing nothing, which was pretty dull, and the graphics looked really dated.
Given that DD) is out in a few days (which, despite the hatred here on mmorpg.com, seems a pretty fun game, although not really an mmo), I just won't bother.
