    I guess you missed this:

"We have partnered with Trion Worlds to give away..."

How do you partner with someone who has not sponsored nor administered the giveaway?  If Trion donated the starter packs, have they not "sponsored" the event?  Surely at the very least Trion gave this site a discount on the packs, isnt that a form of sponsorship?  Why all the double talk?

I received an email from a third-party online payment site today also advertising an "Archeage Starter Pack giveaway". Perhaps it's the same sponsor as the people behind this offer ? Or perhaps XLGames are just doing a bit of promo independantly ?

But the article says they partnered with Trion.

Here we go..giving away free accounts and next will be discounts followed by server merges, then the game sunsetting..Too bad..such a great game wasted by a douchebag "Publisher".

I have to agree with Rhime. P2W is a killer.

ArcehAge had so much potential! I  REALLY got into it. Then came the horrible mismanagement from Trion - You could not have done a worse job Trion. I quit ArcheAge with over 52 APEX's n about 30K in gold. I just could see that the game was dying quickly. Inflation was killing the not so rich peoples will to play and you almost never seen any new players and I mean NO ONE! Empty starter zones for a "F2P" ( Debilitating F2P )  game and that has been the case after the first few months of their broken "launch". I gave everything away to My Guild and have not missed it at all. So much potential Trion, wasted!

Yeah agree, i would been happy if it was P2S and a way to buy this sub for gold.  but nope, people with deep pockets tends to have an advantage overall.

Give it a year. Then hating on AA won't be the cool thing to do anymore, and another MMO will have taken its place.

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

All they're saying is that Trion gave them a few keys for starter packs. What MMORPG.com decides to do with them is up to them. In the even that something goes wrong and a winner doesn't receive a key, or the key is invalid, then Trion isn't responsible, MMORPG.com is (which means you'll probably be SOL).

Typical shit from Trion..they conveniently remove themselves from any responsibility towards the players. Shameful company...

You can partner with someone - they give you X amount for free - you decide to run a giveaway that you solely administer.

The company who gave you X are not a sponsor nor administrator of giveaway - they are simply a donor of X.

I know you support Trion with undying loyalty but everything they do in the last few years is shameful/greedy or just plain messed up.  They cant even give away some packs without denying responsibility since they know there will most likely be issues.    How many other giveaways on this site have to have a disclaimer that the "partner" (since you want to argue over the definition of sponsor) does not take any responsibility for the product they are giving?  Here is a perfect example:

    http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/1071/view/news/read/34054/Skyforge-Ultimate-Founders-Pack-Giveaway-5-.html

No disclaimer there.  Nothing to hide.

Seriously?  If you donate something you most certainly are a sponsor of it.  You might try picking a better argument.

No thanks, learned my lesson by being a patron or whatever we were called, (sucker seems more fitting) and I ended up never logging a day in the live game due to crap release they delivered, so different from the alpha which was actually terrific.
