Cliffhanger Productions has announced that Shadowrun Online will now be known as Shadowrun Chronicles. The team has been considering a name change for awhile and took community input in order to come up with the new name. The first chapter in the Chronicles series will be Boston Lockdown, with further adventures to follow later.

Even more exciting for fans of Shadowrun Chronicles, the release date for the first chapter has been revealed. Shadowrun Chronicles: Boston Lockdown will officially launch on April 28, 2015 via Steam and other digital retailers.

I used to love the Shadowrun books as a teenager.

Can't help but feel this game is like 10-20 years too late.

Never too late for an excellent IP.

Pretty sure that's what they said for that crappy X-Box one too.

Loved the books too but I absolutely adored the Pen & Paper RPG in the mid 80's.  It was the only RPG I thought that gave D&D a run for its money and me and my friends spent years going between the 2.

Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

Yeah but other than the name and the races in game the Xbox/pc shadowrun game had nothing at all to do with shadowrun lol.

I think the new name better reflects the game than the old one that said online. This game is not a MMORPG but more a hub game or something you should play with friends in co-op.

This looks a lot like XCOM. Not a bad thing!

    Joined 2004 - I can't believe I've been a MMORPG.com member for 20 years! Get off my lawn!

Well, since it's the same engine as the past 2 single player Shadowrun games it looks way worse and is pretty sluggish tbh... May as well keep playing xcom.

If this game is nothing more than running kill mission after kill mission (at least coop I hope) and no engaging story/world interactions it'll burn out pretty fast for the non hardcore roleplayers who will most likely craft their own stories I guess.

I simply expect nothing more than kill missions, since nothing else was advertised until now. And they are boring and honestly not well animated...

Oh yeah, from what I've seen in gameplay alpha videos it kinda seems like simple premade missions?! Way back I read about it being random generated missions and all...
