nevermind, while looking for the interview to link it here found that the non-p2w interview was for another game. I got confused there, my bad. But still, wait and see. The game doesnt even have a release date.
I know the p2w concern is there because Obsidian is working with the Allods team. The Allods team did not make that game p2w, Gpotato did. Gpotato is not the team behind allods.
Normally for a first post I'd think this one was pretty stupid but...... the game is by the allods team. Allods was my first real experience with p2w. When I first started playing I had no idea what that even was. I looked at their cash shop and thought wow, this stuff totally isn't fair to sell, you could just buy a win in pvp with some of this stuff.
I gave up on the game soon after, not wanting to be involved in that type of nonsense and there was no way I'd give a company any money that did that. So if they do it again with skyforge, they obviously haven't learned their lesson and I hope the success of the game suffers for it.

Who is there to learn their lesson? The people who made it P2W? Gpotato. Oh yeah, Webzen bought them out and now they answer to China.
Obsidian has no lesson to learn because they never tackled an mmorpg before.
So blame Gpotato. Not the publishers of Skyforge, Obsidian.

Did you just creat a new account in OP just to make a P2W topic?

Just curious.....
Yes they did but it was supposed to be about another game and now they started sh#@ here for no reason.
Originally posted by SupaAPE the game came out of no where...it wasn't on my radar at all.. it looks like this game has alot of good stuff to offer, which is surprising to me. it looks like it could rival the AAA mmo's coming, therefore i don't think it will be P2W. P2W only happens when a game sucks and can't cut it
With allods back under mail.ru owner of my.com the P2W have not stop, even got worst then befor. Who know Skyforge will be pay to win or not, but with allods team and it's game design for the game they will find a type of way that will make people pay up by a lot.
And people still think Gpotato/webzen a problem? yes there pretty bad, but if people take a look allods on the russian side pretty much the p2w was by Design.

i did not create a new account in OP. I posted my answer wrong and had to edit my post. The OP has nothing to do with me.
yes that's the only way they think that they will make money, the game looks so good I would have bought it then there would not have been pay to win or pay to grind less.

I'm inclined to give them a pass because of the time period. The heavily p2w cash shop was the norm rather than the exception back when Allods launched.
Also, I'm surprised this thread isn't flooded with people insisting that all f2p games are really p2w.
Games LOOKS great but I was burned the last time I ordered a founder package (AA) Plus its by the Allods team which in itself was a Decent game but the P2W aspect of it was disasterous for me.
Playing: FFXIV, DnL, and World of Warships Waiting on: Ashes of Creation
And people still think Gpotato/webzen a problem? yes there pretty bad, but if people take a look allods on the russian side pretty much the p2w was by Design.
At least one person understands the microtransaction model.
++++++++++++++
If the game is designed around microtransactions it will always be P2W, but each player decides whether or not they can accept the advantages that can be bought.
Even if the game is so-called "P2W", it won't matter. Your character is going to have a prestige number. This groups you up with other players with about the same prestige. Prestige is a mixture of gear score, followers, and ascension atlas unlocks. So if you pay your way to the top, you will only be grouped up with people who have paid their way to the top as well, or other players who have earned their way to the top through continuous gameplay. It can still be considered P2W because it can certainly expedite the process of reaching the "top", but once there, there is no advantage against other players at the "top" since you will all have around the same prestige.
Also, there will be no items of "power" in the cash shop. No damage increases, gear, etc. Everything can be earned in-game, it just may take a lot longer than if you just drop real life cash on it.

Hope your right part the team for this game it's the allods team, they like to drop things right when people put in a lot money in to the game make it harder to quit.

For sure. I am solely going off what they "said". However, we all have been burned before and we can only take what is said with a grain of salt.
P2W doesn't matter in Skyforge unless you are aiming to be TOP 10 in power/prestige.
If one were to go balls deep with P2W they would be so far from everyone else that the PvP maps wouldn't find enough players in their bracket and as such the P2W would be playing PvE missions alone.
The strict limitation in power brackets means that no matter how much you spent you won't be wrecking faces instead you are matched with people in similar power levels.
P2W in skyforge is purely improving your progression speed which might lead you to play alone.
Because there's no power/prestige cap in Skyforge you are really not benefiting much from paying to progress 8)
This said if you aiming to be a TOP 10 god then you definitely need to pay and A LOT.
There's so much scaling in Skyforge it should be called Scaleforge.
If you really think P2W players won't be matched up again FTP ppl you clearly have no clue how F2P works.
Flashy action combat is the new way these games lure people into these predatory models that prey on compulsive spenders. Unlike a box game where 60 bucks will get you most of the content, in FTP the goal is to create a system where it is theoretically possible to spend an infinite amount of money yet never reach the cap.
Free players are merely fodder content for the whales to consume and get their jollies off on. Even if they can't farm the total noobs in this game, just standing in town with shiny gear for all to adore makes them feel good.
Do not trust devs who tell you that the game isn't P2W. They purposely make the game less P2W at the start in order to draw people in and get them invested into the game. They will then slowly release more and more P2W into the cash shop to milk the playerbase until they are all driven away then they just start developing the next P2W game and start the cycle all over again.

Have to check out russina server? when gpotato was around still the same aspect of the game that gpotato was brining us so was not gpotato that was doing the p2w, played the game over 3 years seeing whats coming out see what we had to pay to get ready for it, not saying gpotato did noting wrong there support got worst over time.

Skyforge's design is completely different from your traditional MMORPG.
1) No level/power cap.
2) Scaling gear/drops.
3) Strict PvE / PvP brackets.
P2W only helps you speed up leveling which doesn't give you any advantage due to the above.
This is based on playing the RU version from the start of CBT.
Of course they can _always_ implement stat boosts to "VIP membership" just like WoW decided to start selling subs for gold.

Well said. Personally I dont think this game will be P2W because it just looks way to epic to be P2W. Time will tell I guess..
