Press - Chris Roberts says Star Citizen is about to start coming together.

BascolaBascola Member UncommonPosts: 425

"We’ve talked a lot about how Star Citizen will come together from disparate pieces over the past year, and we are now entering into when that happens. I can’t express how excited I am," Roberts continued. "Will there be unforeseen issues, bugs to squash and things to balance? Yes! …but I know that I have an amazing development team AND the best community ever assembled behind me. Stay tuned: it’s going to be big!" - [Source: PCGamer]

I'm sure Chris Roberts is $hitting himself at this point !

It's only once you put all the separate pieces together that you can see how well the final product performs (or how badly you missed the target). This id when you can either announce the imminent start of beta (alpha ?) testing of the "whole game" or alternatively announce that you are "going back to the drawing board"...

    Exciting times.

Since there is no definitive release date i doubt we hear anything if they have to go back to the drawing board. It will just take longer.

They have the FPS module they are going to show at PAX in about a week (March 6th) to keep the whales hyped and buying those spaceships. After that i expect some FPS gear, weapons and accessories to show up in the shop. Got to keep those whales happy, you know.

Given the massive amount of information we get from the CIG team almost every day, i am quite sure that we will hear about any minor or major revisions in quite some detail.

As has been mentioned in other posts, there are not many teams in the industry that share so much information about the development of the game with the backers and fans. Personally i would rank them as the most active.

    Have fun

They have to keep this active with the amount people are spending on this game. Every single person I know who has backed it once has upgraded their backing by at least a hundred dollars a piece. I'm happy they are constantly talking to the community about their development. I just hope it's as good as people are hyping it up to be.

This isn't a game yet, its still a project. Until they release a completed game this is still just a project in my mind. Personally I think watching mods locking threads and banning users every 3 seconds when/if the game releases and the hype train explodes spectacularly will be more fun than playing the game itself

No game has been able to merge PvP and PvE play successfully, are there games that have attempted to do so? Yep, and what ultimately happens? The PvP players always find a way to inflict their play style on the PvE community. The PvP player thrives on the challenge of finding the loophole or flaw in the game mechanics, Star Citizen will be no different. Anyone investing even a dime in this game thinking they will be able to play the game and just enjoy the environment is in for a rude shock. I know we are all starving for space based MMORPG but Chris Roberts is using the players and playing them for chumps. I will be pleasantly surprised if I'm wrong but I seriously doubt Star Citizen will be able to pull it off.

I think I've seen you said that before in other SC threads, either that or someone else with exactly the same fantasies as yours. Its a weird way of living you life in my opinion, basically frothing at the thought of SC's (or any other game for that matter, it happens everywhere) release being a clusterfuck and fail. Why would anyone wish that on a game, especially in a genre we're all fans of. If you're not, why are you even here at this point?

I'm personally somewhat skeptic towards how SC will turn out; but that doesn't mean I don't want the game to be the best it can be. Of course I want it to be the Best Damned Space Sim Ever, who would'nt? That would be a  good thing, damn it! How can seeing an outrage from a disappointed community be fun, that's so weird.

Also, in before you say that "I never said I wanted SC to crash and burn", of course you didn't.

He had absolutely nothing to show a year ago,so no way in hell he has a TRIPLE A game ready to come together.

Psychology 101,tell the community it is all about them and how great they are,oh yes because they are designing this game lol.

He is right though, this universe is the most creative thing he has ever done, not that it would be tough to topple Wing Commander lol.

I said it before about  Eve and any other developer tackling this genre,it is TOO big and too tough to tackle this genre without a massive budget and massive team and a lot of time.Otherwise you just end up with boring space, some floating asteroids and ship cockpits where you fire pew pew lasers at each other.

i can't wait to see this Triple A game,i will be the first to give credit when it is due, until then i am 100% skeptical of anything much more than Eve 2.0.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

super excited for today´s showing of the current status of First Person Combat module.

In a couple of weeks we´ll get our hands on it.

They said at some occasion we´ve only seen 5% yet of what they have, almost nothing in the single player / co-op game part Squadon 42 coming by the end of the year will be shown, they want to keep surprises when people are actually playing it ya know.

We know the campaign will have first person on foot stuff and of course space missions with story and dialogue options a la Mass Effect, as well as different story branching.
