The undocumented achievement...

marcustmarcust Member UncommonPosts: 495

I've set myself an in-game goal, yes it is totally insane, but I will give it a shot anyway.

My nightblade, lovingly called Horrowshow Milk-drinker, will attempt to become the first character in the history of ESO to hit the level cap without doing a single quest.

He is currently level 6, so a long way to go.

I have other toons that can run around helping npcs by doing their bidding, but Horrowshow does not have the temprement to help every damsel, prophet or aloof Breton that begs for aid.

----------

Should anyone else have tried this, please let me know.

Playing: Darkfall New Dawn (and planning to play Fallout 76)
Favourite games have included: UO, Lineage2, Darkfall, Lotro, Baldur's Gate, SSX, FF7 and yes the original Wizardry on an Apple IIe

So, if some says they've already done this... you're going to stop?

Nice to set a goal for yourself! It is something to tell your guildies and friends too. Kinda like that guy who capped in WoW only playing in the Pandaria starter area. Heck, I just talked to a guy who has over 5000 hours in Skyrim! Now that is an achievement to me also!!

It depends on how much fun I'm having.

I've decided that following a questlog from A to B to C is kinda dull, and has been done before a few million times, so trying something different.

Well good luck with that. You'll be missing several skill lines: Fighters, Mages and Undaunted skill lines and there are several areas you can't get into without the quest that gets you there.

Not to mention that by creating a character and either doing or skipping the tutorial intro, you have already done one quest :)

Good catch... so technically speaking, it's not doable!

No, not really. You're also dead in the water after 50 since to get access to the VR content you need to do either a breadcrumb quest that takes you to Craglorn or have completed the whole main story quest line to unlock the Caldwell Silver other Alliance area.

You can skip a lot of quests and just grind for XP. There are several guides to good grinding spots like this one for the Dominion.

You're also going to be forever skill-point starved by avoiding quests. Even doing them you don't really have enough skill points to unlock all the passives and active skills you want until past level 40.... and that's with no crafting. Add one crafting line and you won't really have a lot of spare points until after 50.

ESO is not just a leveling MMO. It's a skill point acquisition game and leveling + skyshards doesn't even get you half of them.

I think you missed the point Iselin.

Any moron can watch a few youtubes of how to play a DK, google where all the skyshards are and follow the path of least resistance. But to do so is boring, where is the challenge in following the same path as everyone who has gone before.

Btw, under achievements | Quests, there is an achievement for doing 50 quests. Mine still sits at 0/50, so yes it IS possible to get out of ColdHarbor without a quest being done.

I will not worry about VR content with this toon. The goal is to get to 50, not beyond. Champion points from my other toon (who is currently level 30) are able to be used by Horrorshow, so there is no need for him to do VR content.

He doesn't like those other pacts anyway, he is content to live in his house in Delwyn's mill (yes he has claimed the common house in Delwyn's mill as his own - anyone who says ESO doesn't have player housing hasn't thought it through) - use the wayshires to get around and hunt and craft as he sees fit, without wasting his time being a serf to every npc that needs 10 rats killed.

Anyway, have fun however you see fit, I'll post a screenshot for Horrowshow when he hits level 50 with 0/50 quests done.

The whole point of this thread is to highlight that there is more than one way to play a toon in ESO, make your own goals (not just those created by the devs), use your imagination and most importantly have fun.
