Games with in-depth character creation?

fivetigersfivetigers Member UncommonPosts: 208
I'm not talking about physical appearance, I'm looking for something that lets me decide what skills and abilities my character is going to have.  Good examples of this are Asheron's Call and Dungeons and Dragons Online.  In these games, all level 1 characters starting the game have the potential to be completely different and unique from other level 1 characters based on decisions made during character creation.  I'm looking for some other games that have this feature.  Thanks.

Some games do this to a minor degree like GW2 but it is an idea that is pretty rare today.

It is actually pretty sad, it is standard in pen and paper RPGs and adding a bit of variety to the characters of MMOs is easy and fun.

A few speciality skills you pick from a list or get by making choices adds to the depth or your character and they don't really have to be combat skills either. Like a skill to find small hidden objects worth a little or useful for crafters for example, or a skill that stops regular animals from aggroing your character unless you attack them. Maybe a herbalist skill that make it higher chanse to get rare crafting mats from harvesting plants. There are loads of small fun skills that doesn't affect the games balance but add a little fun. :)

ESO is ahead off the curve here OP. Builds are everything to me. If I can't customize and make my character my own I won't play.

Do a search for Skyforge character creation.

    Looks solid.

hrrm..you might look into Eldevin. I didn't particularly enjoy it (too much of a WoW/Runescape clone) but you can mix up skills from all the "classes", so you could pretty much create a stealth rogue priest healer fireball casting mage paladin warrior..if you wanted to be mediocre in everything and awesome at nothing.
