Trion has released an interesting new info-graphic that shows some pretty cool facts about Rift in celebration of the game's fourth anniversary. For instance, nearly 1.5B quests have been completed by Defiant (46% of the population) and Guardian (54% of the population) players. See what other nifty factoids can be learned about four years of Rift in the image below.

Trove having a thing get to 20 in trove get a free mount in rift, if people ever planing playing rift again so it's worth it to do it now.
I know there are people will never ever play any trion games and I'm sure you have good reason for it, but this is people to plan for future now then later.
"40 Souls | 480 Combinations | Nearly Infinite Builds | 5 Of Which Won't Get You Kicked From A Raid"
Ok, so maybe it's a couple more than 5, but still. This was the biggest selling point of the game, and also one of it's biggest failures. When this game launched, I made builds that were fun as hell. Deathknight-like builds, Warlock-like builds, Other builds I just messed with. I leveled a mage as a Chlor/Necro/Lock. Awesome leveling+ Farming+ Solo build and I loved the playstyle. Too bad it has no place in the end-game. And if I wanted to continue as a Mage, I needed to spec as a Pyro mage.
WTF is that? If that's what I wanted, that is what I would have made. So I get to level up as a "Warlock" only to discover If I want progress, I need to become a glass cannon?

Their dynamic events are really well done. And dimensions are truly innovative. Instant adventures are unique to this game out at least they were one of the first. As well as being able to adjust your level on the fly to match zone content. All of their iterations have been improvements to the game and have offered more variety for the players.
We can't forget that every other game have it's pro's and cons, all of us will play a game with most pro then cons, it comes down to like in what in the game that someone enjoy the most, I look back all the mmo I play that they can be better but never comes to light.
My exact complaint. Trion went with nerfing builds that were spread out over various trees that did "unusual" things and basically encouraged the cookie-cutterification of specs. They should have gone with more horizontal expansion and nerfed the cookie-cutter builds instead giving players more customization - that was the strength of their game. That's why they lost me as a player. Taking the one thing you do better and different than other games and then ruining it. GJ.
Cliche builds in any game have always been shunned, It is not unique to Rift. if you have to blame someone blame the people who counts numbers with addons like dps meter and vote kick. It is same everywhere, that is the reason i don't do more than expert dungeons. I don't do more than Heroic Dungeon in wow too despite them having easy mode LFR. Trion did not nerf anything or buff anything and they did not ruin anything, they have the most outstanding class customization among all the themepark mmorpg available in market. But it seems no matter how much they try to provide players with what they ask, trion is always to be blamed for ruining something out of someone's ripe mind.
Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.
If you want to play with the big boys you have to be the best. Don't like it, go solo.

Sex sells. Get the baby oil.
This sort of thing happens in the endgame of any game. After a while, numbers will be crunched and people will be "required" to play the most "optimal" builds.
I was told by a guildie on GW2 I shouldn't tinker with my builds because everything has already been tried and tested. But I'm a rebel and I do what I want. They can't check me out on that game anyway.
IMO Inspect tools suck for any MMO. There should be an option to hide your stats/talent setup so people won't know what you're running, if you don't want to be inspected.

Yes, but it's not the same as what I am talking about here. In WoW for example, if you level a Hunter, when you get to End Game, you can still expect to be a physical ranged DPS class, wearing Mail armor and utilizing a pet. If you level a Rogue, you will pretty much be playing a stealth based melee character with a hit and run play style.
You don't roll a Warlock in WoW and then expect to convert to a Fire Mage at level cap. This goes way beyond cookie cutter specs. It's a matter of changing what would be your entire class in any other MMO.
I was going to say the same thing.
There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.

That's because dwarves have broad shoulders by nature. Those other races have to wear armors with oversized shoulderpads to be not ashamed of themselves.
Grats to Rift for surviving 4 years. Although I never played it seriously.
Because the cutoff was 10%
The zone events are cool, I will give you that. Rifts themselves not so much.
Dimensions were a near direct copy off of EQ2's housing, particularly its prestige housing modeled after existing land in the game.
Instant adventures were an innovation, yes. Instant, story-free and travel free quest grinding. I am glad other games haven't copied that one.
EQ2 has a nice mentoring/chronomentoring, but Rift did do a good job here. They do a good job allowing players to group for the public quests.
Rift does have a lot of variety, but at a steep cost: lots of partially developed ideas. 3 faction PvP in a 2 faction game, lousy AA system, chronicles released like once a year, master dungeons that were released even less often (not sure if this is still the case). Maybe its better now. There are games with much more interesting worlds to play in out there, thats ultimately what kills Rift for me-it just feels soulless.
Exactly my thoughts. Also so many combination of "souls/classes" and most of them are just reskinned and renamed more of the same. They have many souls for the sake of having many options... soulless options.
rift strongest feature the so called soul system is also its biggest weakness imo..
i wanted to play as necromancer mage,,but it is not viable in raid and pvp..there are certain builds which you have to follow or get kicked out of raid and even dungeon for that matter.
same story for pvp..go with certain build or get destroyed by other palyers.
what was the point of having 9 souls for each calling again??
they might as well remove some of them like mage elementalist soul which is totally useless now.
Football is "just a game", Dota 2 is "just a game" people still made millions of dollars doing it.
Just because its a game doesn't mean people can't strive for excellence.
I'm seriously tired of casual whiners complaining that they can't slap a build together and compete in the top 5% of the playerbase. Its literally like my fat ass whining that i can't strap on a pair of nike's and place in the top 10 in the local marathon.
If you want to be good at something you have to work on it. Fun and good don't always coincide. Sometimes to be very good at something you have to make a job out of it and that removes the fun from it. The difference here is you have a choice. Whining to the people who make the game to accomodate your laziness and ineptitude is not the right solution.
