[Preview] Final Fantasy XV: The More Things Change, The More They Stay the Same

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Final Fantasy XV and its more modern fantasy setting and main cast of friends within a darker action-driven RPG story might not seem quite like the Final Fantasy we’re all familiar with. After playing through a roughly hour-long demo of the game, as the old saying goes - the more things change, the more they stay the same. If you’ve seen the trailer for the game, you may have met the main characters Noctis, the prince of Lucis, and his friends, the warrior Gladiolus, Prompto, and Ignis driving in a car on an adventure.

They released FF on PC that were on way different architecture than the PC. FF15 is running on x86 so it won't be as bad to convert compare to FF7 or FF13

Seems like a sound idea to me. Keep this kind of game for the big machines and a more classic game for the handheld market

This have been a good conversation

Stick with your nostalgia, I want that new system ^^

The old system was great but let's be honest guys, it looks weird having characters look almost real on new technology and seeing them standing still waiting to be attacked looks less real and feels unnatural. The old games are still there for our enjoyment, I just beat Chrono Trigger again the other day, those are still great games but this one could be just as good or better!

    I'm reserved after XIII.

I really didn't like it, but XIV is fantastic and I actually like what I'm seeing with XV.

I just hope it is at least a 100+ hour journey. I've been missing a truly epic, grand RPG adventure since finishing the Mass Effect series and moving on from Skyrim.

If only to keep my FF collections complete, I will be getting this game. But the eye candy is very strong with this one. If it is as open ended as it looks... this will be a truly fun game.

First playthrough will be for the story... second playthrough will be for the side stuff... Third playthrough will be for completeness.

I hope this game is as fun as it looks. Also, for those that want the old system, go play the old games. I am hoping VR really does take off, and that would then be my preferred way of playing.

    Final Fantasy Boyband Edition.

You'd think this would be the one I'd like, but they're all skinny bitches and a 6/10 on my scale. FFS. At least older games had one masculine dude we could get behind, like Auron/Kimhari or Barret.

This entire IP has really changed. I guess I hold on to old school traditions more, but imho the "Fantasy"  in Final Fantasy is diminishing,  just like like the "Quest" is leaving Everquest. Bring back the old games!

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

People, to ranting about the old system and the old days...sure FF was great back in the day but it was great for that time period. If they were to bring out a game that was in the format of the old FFs everyone would have been like "what is this garbage 90's feel". Of course the IP needs to evolve into something else or else it will disappear.

Leave your nostalgia at the door and get with the program. Yes 13 was awful but i think they learnt from that and wont be making the same mistakes. For all those that played the series FF9 and below, please stop clinging to the past. They are not making a game to please the old school fans, they are making a game to please the mass.

Reality TV meets RPG. I bet they can't pay their cell phone bills either. How about they pimp out some of those boys to the streets as jiggalos.

Take a break from killing the wild life for a car repair. Heartless writing. They must of hired cable tv writers for this one.

As long as they continue along this path with FF, i'll not give them anywhere near full price for the game. I wouldn't be surprised if it's graphics over anything else again.
