I guess as many expected skyforge failed CB launch. Excuses as usual.
I remember a day when alpha and beta testers would submit our dxdiag and would be carefully selected to actually help test the game client. We would report bugs, sometimes spend a whole day beating up one bug over and over while the devs collected data, devs actually interacted with us, were often in game with us, in guilds with us. They listened and as a result they made better games.
Now studios have gotten so greedy they sell alpha and beta access to whoever can pay the most, hardly ever are in game, and have zero interaction with the players, hardly any " testers " submit a bug report, or even know how. God knows they do not read any bug reports, and fix even less.
Then when they release a buggy pos game that only holds interest for a month they act all surprised by the community reaction.
It is kinda like the thief in the party, pickpockets his own team on the way to the dungeon, The party get pissed and toss him out of the party, Maybe he has made a safe fast 100 gold, but if he has waited and been part of the team and worked with the others, he would have earned a share of the huge treasure at the end of the adventure.

lol what... sorry the closed beta test of the game which can be bought into if you really cant wait didnt start online.. hardly excuses though...
We are currently investigating some last minute issues with the Skyforge CBT servers. The team is investigating and working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible!
Thank you for your patience.
oh my, i guess they should have just opened the servers as a buggy mess so people couldnt login anyway, that would have made it better right?
Problem is it is ALWAYS the same, the problems are always the same problems, the excuses are ALWAYS the same excuses. Just once be prepared, we have been doing mmo's for 20 years now, even this team has 3 other mmos under their belt. Just once spend the money you need to spend on hardware and bandwidth in advance and pull your willard out of your own butt.
because clearly part of a closed beta test isnt testing the hardware the game is going to be running on, they shouldnt want to test the limits of their machines to see capabilities etc... you're being overly unreasonable because again it's Closed Beta Test.... you sound like one of the people who "paid to play" and is now pissy because you cant get in instantly and have to wait a few minutes to play the game you are so desperate for....
OMG this game has been tested to hell and back in house and in the russian launch how so many people can continue to think PAID testing is anything other that PR marketing is beyond me. There is no testing going on here the problem is the same problem as ALWAYS!! GREED!!!! They are trying to launch cheaply as possible not enough hardware or bandwidth to cover sales. SAME issue every launch always has.. they stand around with their finger up their butt and say well we know we sold 100k early access accounts but surely only 10% of those people are actually going to want to play so if we provide enough hardware for 20% we should be fine. Then what happens that ALWAYS happens? The people that PAID $100 or more for alpha or beta access actually are excited and all want to log in and get what they paid for.
I don't agree with the definition that was tossed around this site at one time, "a game is live once people can spend money on it", I believe that is silly.
Any product on this world is defined by the seller, not by the buyer. Skyforge is selling "access to an unfinished game, which might or might not be released officially at some point in the future". Key here is that they are actually telling buyers that there will be bugs, crashes, etc. The retarded ones are not the sellers, but the buyers who spend money on it without thinking things through.
I purchased the cheapest founder's pack because of my curiosity, so I'll log in to see how the game really is. I'm not expecting some amazing thing really, but for $20 I can satisfy my curiosity and that's enough. Once they game officially launches, I might come back and commit more to actually play it to my heart's content, but I haven't spent money to "play a finished MMO".
TL;DR: grow up kids and learn how to spend money! if you can't afford to, don't buy stuff!
i don't know where you get your info, but Russian Skyforge only just finished it's own CBT and is moving into an OBT soon... they have not launched or anything of a sort...
Edit - or you know, genuine bugs have popped up, which can happen and they are actually trying to resolve them, i don't know why you want to play / test games if you're so overly cynical like, bad hobby for you dude.
IF i bought a founders pack then i will surely feel Entitled...
but i did not...thanks to TRION world for teaching me a GAME LIFE LESSON.
I will NEVER EVER SPEND A SINGLE DIME ON FREE TO PLAY GAMES JUST TO PLAY ON THEIR BETA STAGE.
Anyway, lets wait until OPEN BETA ^_^
Let me play, if i get convinced then i will surely pay for a founders pack! if a CBT key is hard for you to give for FREE then why should i spend my money just to TEST a FREE TO PLAY game in BETA stage.
This is just going to be the same argument over and over, Pantheon, Pathfinder, Repopulation, Origins of Malu, Xsyon, probably one of more of the superhero games, etc etc etc.
"It's the company's fault"
"It's the peoples' fault for buying into it"
"Why would a company create this environment so as to potentially blame the buyer"
"People should be more watchful of their investments"
It's a bad idea and a mess from the start. Just make a damn video game and market it on its merits. Problem solved. Failure to do this in the first place is what caused the issue. Offering people a chance to buy promises, whether those people are unwise or otherwise, is a freakin problem. So few people seem to get this. It's maddening.
Whatever. I'm going to kick back and listen to some Jesus Jones.

Lol, your argument isn't wrong, but I think that you probably trivialize the issue a little bit. The fact that this sort of issue hinders every launch should give you some indication that it's more complex. It's not simply throwing more hardware or bandwidth at it. Also, in a closed beta test, they may very well want to only allow a certain amount of traffic through at once.
I agree that the testing phase of games has definitely shifted from what I remember. It started before founders packs, though. There was a time when you'd NEVER give up your beta key. So this exclusivity all of a sudden became quite attractive. Then it got to the point where they were being sold on e-Bay, because they were so exclusive. Since they were being bought and sold, and since those new people "testing" the game were, effectively, useless, why not sell it? Any effort spent to actually acquire someone to cover a particular use case of hardware setup was effectively wasted because the invite was sold.
So, instead, you shotgun the damn process, sell as many beta invites as you possibly can, and hope that you get the appropriate cross-section of users that you want, knowing that a super-high majority of users (probably 80-90%) won't even attempt to test the game at all, let alone report any bugs.
So greed might be attributed to the downfall of the beta process, but it's as much greed on the part of the end user as it is on the company.

If you pay for beta access half the blame is on you.
So I'm assuming you don't pay for betas? Feel free to explain how someone paying for beta is a problem over people not actually testing the software being the problem?
In all fairness, as well, for as long as there's been people crying about paid betas, there were people crying for paid betas.

Last time I checked, when 500 people storm the doors of a department store... people get trampled.
Maybe the thread should be entitled... "As Was Expected"
Paying to beta-test a f2p game..
They all get exactly what they deserve for their impatience.
Brace yourselves.. A river of their stupidity-caused tears is comming.
It's like they forgot that day 1 of closed beta is always a stress test.
I don't blame you.. You must be too young to remember the days when beta-testing was an honor and beta-testers were mostly serious individuals who actually used their time to deliver a bug-free experience to everyone.
When you pay for something, you expect a service to be given to you. Beta means that YOU give the service.
People fail to understand this simple fact.
They keep buying into these CBTs and crying when its not the "Early Access to a Complete Game" they deep inside thought they would get.
Everytime i read threads like this i get the feeling people are still living in the past and aren't considering any of the changes that have occurred in todays market. i.e. games are more complex there having to deal with MANY more people then back then had to. They have to develop a game that works on numerous systems, all with different configurations. They have to try to appeal to a larger audience to be able to keep up in todays market and economy.
Anyways. All this talk of buying into beta and beta testing not what it was. Its true. Its changed. Its having to change to adapt to the changing community. And because of this they had to change how they operate beta testing. But that doesnt mean you still can't help out. Im an old beta tester myself. but that doesnt mean ill be kicking back and not doing my best to improve the game.

What you said is just pathetic. The has never been "honor" (i doubt you know the definition of the word) in being cheap free labor for a FOR-PROFIT company. The only difference between now and in that delusional memory of the past is the fact that companies figured they can charge you to test their game for them.
So you think being used for free labor is an honor, I call anybody willing to brag about being used for free labor a dumbass.

I had my fair share of awful launches, and I can understand that people feel annoyed by bad launches. However, OP started his QQ the second he couldn't access a game during first day of closed beta and then started blaming the gaming industry for it.
We can all blame companies for the crap they do and I certainly do a fair amount of complaining myself, but if we do that we should also take a good look at ourselves when we pre-purchase games or pay for alpha/beta/early access.
There are a few games that I pre-order, but its games that I am already dead set I will get regardless of reviews, I have done a few kickstarters but I avoid early access because I think its a very poor deal, you generally pay more to play an unfinished game and its a practice I don't feel like supporting. The only time I will do it is when I find myself getting a really good deal out of it.
Im actually surprised, its more of a beta than a marketing weekend, they seem to actually be testing systems and focus testing small amounts of content.
The game is already pretty well polished, a bit of a delay to the launch due to some log in issues which were quickly addressed notwithstanding so far I have enjoyed my time in it.
Now there are some things I hope to see smoothed out (mouse turn being a bit to sensitive for one) and I REALLY hope they turn on grouping for the EU servers soon.
But so far, I am reasonably happy with my Founder pack, certainly more so than I was with my last 2 purchases from Trion, its just different enough to keep me happy for a bit. Though its still not the "Get lost in an adventure" I want for me and my friends, its a nice little distraction while we wait for that game to ever appear.
