It's been a while since I played Guild Wars 2. Fortunately, ArenaNet was showing off the upcoming expansion, Heart of Thorns, at this year’s PAX East, and I can’t really think of a better way to re-introduce myself to the game than to check out the latest and greatest ArenaNet has to offer.

It looks quite interesting I hope they release a lot more than what we've heard of to be considered an "expansion". I love gw2 and I hope they take their time making it perfect

Colin said something about an extra layer of challenging pve content so im already interested. Just hoping it doesn't launch around the same time as heavensward.

Me too. I am curious to check out the PvE and hope that they make the combat system necessary. It will be awhile before I will touch it if Heavensward comes out. There is no comparison with content there. Heavensward is huge!

Here's to hoping that Jon Peters wasn't blowing smoke when he said that specializations and other changes are coming to old specs because of the way the new class plays, that trinity like elements will be seen and added to PVE, and that they actually go back as they've said they are doing to increase and update many QoL improvements because there's alot missing from the title. I'd say that if they don't then many of us will have to write this game off 100% for the rest of it's life because if they don't do these things then we'll have learned a valuable lesson, that these developers can't keep their word.

I came here from my email expecting to read about ESO and find this thread.

    Your newsletter lied to me.

You enjoy using conditions in GW2 and they are so broken? :-)

In PVE conditions are terrible in group situations, as other people's conditions replace your own on mobs. That means that if most of your damage comes from conditions you end up not doing damage to the mobs as someone else's conditions replace your own. This has implications for rewards and achievements in events, dungeons etc.

Conditions are cool, but really for WvW and PVP. For PVE exploration etc. pure damage builds are what truly contributes to group play.

And I have read that it's impossible to fix with the current engine, which is why it is still going to be broken in HoT. I'm surprised they brought out a new class that uses conditions as a specialty actually.

From what has been disclosed about the new class, Revenant seems to work on condis under Mallyx stance. And some very offensive weapon skills. The new defiant break bar also solidifies control of bosses. You know what's going on.

Also, don't measure gameplay by its PUGs. In a good team comp your teammates can avoid overwriting your condis, while pugs don't really care how you feel. They just want to finish a given task as soon as possible and move on.
