You HAVE to be kidding me, they can lock me into a pre-order, but you would have to be smoking some serious sticky to think that someone would pay that much for 24/7 grinding and zergfest PvP with healing potion spamming.

I'll make everyone a deal, I'll make a program that you click a button to make a number go up then you can brag about who has the highest number in the end. To make it better whomever has the highest number at any given time wins any given battle. I'll only charge you $15/17 for doing so...

This game is so average it should be buy the game and play for free and pay for any expansions just like Guild Wars. I'd rather play GW though.

Well now since the game is offically released (lol) we should get the true price range soon so we can get an even harder laugh out of it.

BTW any takers on the program? I'll call it RF Online 2

If you don't want your pre-order just take the un-opened box (when you get it) to any store that sells the game and say you want to return it for instore credit.

Doesn't anyone realise that £8.99 is the standard fee for MMOs in the UK???

City of Heroes / Villains: £8.99
WoW: £8 roughly or 16 euros
    MxO: about £9 - £10.

Guys if you're gonna bitch about the price of an MMO, do your research first.

If you don't wanna pay for an MMO, go play Guild Wars or Anarchy Online.

Yeah, but comparing the sheer mass of content WOW has to the meager skeleton of a game RFO is it brings tears to my eyes thinking I preordered this game. :/

seriously this game is about pvp, its like comparing WoW to shadowbane, its two separate games. This game isn't about content as much as it is pvp. WoW pvp is next to worthless and all about farming rep. This game at least has substance to the pvp, frankly I don't care about content

I pre-ordered RFO from EBgames so I could Beta test the game.  I spent $5 US.  The manager there said if I didn't want the game, just tell em when they call me for pick-up and they can put my $5 towards something else.  No harm, no foul.  Basically, I paid $5 for the Beta code, non-refundable.

I think it was worth it.  Will I buy the whole game?  Probably not, because I'm not into the grind and the running is so slooooow.  But I think the game looks gorgeous and the basis is excellent.  Many players out there love RvRvR/guild v. guild play and will be very happy with this.   I love the look of the Accretians and the Bellato Mechs.  Cora are gorgeous, but I always wonder if the unspoken rules of engagement are that one wearing chainmail/leather bikini is not allowed to be stabbed in the midriff.  image

Remember, Betas are always craptastic lagfests and buggy.   That's why it's a beta test.  Now if the problems carry over to live, that'll be another story.

I think u'll find that AO is only free until Jan 2007, and even then u can't do shadowlands or notum wars unless u subscribe.

I would certainly pay for this game when it comes out, i'm currntley beta testing, and despite the obvious bugs it currently has, it's got me hooked. Its like a combination of KOL, Final Fantasy and Guild Wars all rolled into one. Who could ask for more?? And adding a subscription to it will mean decent support service (hopefully) and a community of hardened gamers, who don't mind shelling out cash to have a good game

You have to be joking me to cry about the price.  Its standerd for any Online game with half decent customer service and expansions and updates to come in the future.  It's rare you'll find a good game with no monthly fee's.  This game looks totally worth the price and i would recommend it to anyone who likes pvp'ing.

In store credit?! That sucks.. I wanted my money back. If it's in store credit I'll just stay with it and sell it or play it or something. But I can't pay 2 MMO's.. Oh well...

Seriously has anyone, that says the price is worth it, tried the beta? I'm a hardcore powerleveler and I even find this game boring after 10 hours of play time.

The only good thing about this game (at the moment, hoping they will add more content in due time) is the graphics and then I'm only talking about the characters themselves, the surroundings are just plain ugly. I wouldn't pay €1.- a month for this at the moment.

oh im very well aware of this. alltho its probably longer then 2007 anyway 8its not the first date they announced, it depends on their deal with the ads ingame, aslong as there are advertising companies interested, the free game will stay).

also even AO classic >>>>> rfo in any aspect lol.

silkroad is about the same grind like rfo, but for free lol.

AO and RF are completely different, so u cant compare - they appeal to 2 completely different markets - AO is not as geared towards PvP, and RF is not a city building economy, it would be like comparing SimCity 4 to KOL

And as far as powerlvling is concerned - this isn't a powerlvling game, the fact is that lvling PTs stops this. Show me a powerlvled lvl 30, and i'll pwn u with my maxxed out PT lvl 26 - this is where the real strategy lies, its very clever in covering all aspects - sure  u can pwr lvl, but at the end of the day - its all abot PvP, and thats where PT comes into respect

i take it you never played AO in your whole life ... or never left the newbie zone (not an insult, thats how the place is called)

  • SceneGGSceneGG Member UncommonPosts: 97
actually I have played this game a lot, seeing I have a lvl 83 MP, and am subscribed to all the expansions. I've taken part in alien invasions as well - ok so i've done most of it solo, and not really adventured into the shadowlands, but i still know enough of the game to put forward a valid opinion - u wanna generalise about a game, then why cant i?
