But armor models are just weak - they still have that pasted on look, bad color schemes - I understand why they've done it - consoles, but still its pretty bleh

But in the big scheme of things graphics are the least important to me - gameplay is what its all about

I dont think its because of consoles, because just look at some of the amazing armor designs in Final Fantasy XIV

Its the Blizzard school of art design, what do you expect.

Blizzard rarely uses sharp and "edgy" armor looks or artistic styles, they aim for much more stylized and over the top, bulky and...colorful?

I think this armor looks more like something I'd expect to see in Everquest 2, always sharp and edgy, trying to look dark and broody in that game. So edgelord.

Not to mention the habit of painting the armor directly onto the model has slowly been phased outta WoW, aside from chest and pants. A lot of the time bracers, footwear, shoulders, etc have actual mesh representation now. Some with cute little animated objects inside!

Take the druid tier http://www.wowhead.com/item=95244/mantle-of-the-haunted-forest#modelviewer:6+0 Here! It's got the shoulder with the gnawing maw, small butterflies orbit the shoulder and they're animated and self contained prims or mesh, and then the spider bobbing is another animated self contained mesh!

I think that goes above and beyond the little....cosplay styrofoam armor the OP linked.

I was referring to the fact that the armor has random spikes and blades and stuff that would more than likely hurt you than protect you.  I.e. unrealistic as all get out

But I agree the current Daedric looks retarded.

It is kind of reminiscent of the Centurion look from the original Battlestar Galactica image

I have an old PC about 5 years old with a Nvdia Geforce 580 GTX. May be it looks better on  better systems but everything I wear looks like that.

I think the armor on the right looks pretty good, better than in many mmos I have played, but that purple suit on the left looks bad.

The daedric amor is pretty weird though, can't understand how that happened; its meant to be the most badarse gear in elder scrolls universe right?

    I'm thinking Shredder not Daedric.

Some armours feel alot like SW:TOR Sith as well, which is odd.

    LOL WTF!!!

Where did the red parts go? I mean Daedric armor = Ebony armor + Daedra HEART!!! Where did the blood/soul etc go?

It left when the players dyed their armor to the color they wanted.

And I am sure some people out there like the purple armor and dislike the green.

I don't think Bethesda took it from Blizzard, the first appearance of this kind of sharp edgy armor in TES game came with Morrowind in 2002, years before Wow. If one learned and copied from the other, its the other way around.

    Sorry for repeating what seemingly everyone else have said here, but looking at that picture, I immediately thought of;

Ahem; preparing the robot voice........ ''Battlestar Galactica (the original series)''.

Oh, yes and that armor looks horrible.

Not in Skyrim in my opinion.  Someone even made a mod for the ESO Cinematic Daedric Armor for Skyrim and that looks even more awesome to me.

Thats the pic of the mod in skyrim.  This is the imperial daedric armor from ESO and I hope players will get it sooner or later in ESO.  graphics wont look as good but as long as the design looks like that, then I am happy.

ESO has nothing to do with true Elder Scroll games only lore wise and names.

Also Skyrim is solo game whith mods that enchance the game to extreme you can't EVER compare that to MMO with all it's limitations.

ESO is disgrace comepare to solo rpg serie.

Hope to build full AMD system RYZEN/VEGA/AM4!!!

Well I guess you could have said that about the OP's post as well, but it would have sounded equally ridiculous.

The "green" is actually a different armor set, it doesn't look painted on and there is quite a lot of nice detail. Its not just a matter of what color you prefer.  I actually have (had) that set or a very similar one on my bosmer nightblade, it looks great in game on ultra. Also the screen shot on the left looks very low res, that is partly because the camera changes in the crafting screen (pic on right) to more clearly focus on your character and possibly also the poster has normal or low video settings for the game when they took they screen shots.

My resolution is 1600 x 1200 and my setting is at ultra then I turn off the shadows completely and it becomes custom.

Yeah, the shot on the right looks nice, very clear with lots of detail, the shot on the left looks kind of washed out and fuzzy/pixelated. Perhaps its the lack of shadows that makes that shot in particular look flat/lacking depth as well.

I think you're right because when they initially did that huge update I came back and had not shut off shadows yet and the game looked quite vibrant.  Then I shut it off and I do that because I have a Nvdia 580 GTX and 5 year old machine I generally find turning shadows off gives me a great deal of performance increase on my poor overworked girl.

honestly i think they have the wrong designer for character designs.

Only some Robes are acceptable, they look as if they were made by another designer.

The Armor in the picture left looks good but the ingame design is a joke compared to it

The armor in this game is terrible all around.

All the chest pieces are literally textures with a different style butt flap.

My character looked the best with a full set of the first tier breton armor and it went downhill from there. Takes some of the fun out of advancing.
