Just looking for some outside advice from people who may have played either of these games and ESO in its current state.
Is ESO good right now?
I was apart of beta and it looked promising but then afterwards alot of my buddies said they regretted getting it after launch.
I like FF games as well but idk if I would be interested in a port and alot of the reviews i have been reading say the game can be incredibly ugly at times and sometimes the voice overs can be grating but the story is great.
I just need that extra bit of outside influence to help my decision as i will probably be happy with both but i wan't to get one now and work on it then get the other later when its on sale.

I've had same the problem in regards to whether Type-0 is worth the buy, if only to get the demo.
But about ESO I was also in the same boat. PLayed beta and thought it was decent, but heard a lot of bad responses from friends and online reviews, but i recently bought it before it went B2P to avoid any jump in price and I havent regretted it. Been playing for a month and a half now and still enjoying just as much as when I started. First time an MMO has keep be that interested. Although I will say i never liked WoW and tried to get into it twice but always found it wanting. I dont enjoy a tab target system as I feel its a numbers game and not a skill base game. So it could just be preference but ESO has the best of both i feel.
The introduction to the justice system is pretty awesome too as it does feel a lot more 'elder scrolls' like. But I must point out, it isnt Elder Scrolls as we know it. If you go in thinking its going to be like skyrim, obl or morrowind you will be disappointed. You cant have an incredibly over power character that can bypass all the content, it just doesnt work that way.
Hope this helps!
I've been playing ESO since November and its been great. Combat is smooth, abilities are fun, and pacing is exciting without over the top Diablo 3 style of gameplay. Questing and low levels can be a challenge based on expectations. Questing is phase heavy and sometimes difficult to do with a friend. Its very easy solo questing and can be a fun experience if you stop and smell the roses instead of rushing through to level up as fast as possible. Group play can be challenging based on both getting a group together (LFG tool stinks) and actual dungeons. They can be a bit of a bear especially at later levels but I honestly like that. There's not great vertical progression and the carrot on the stick at end game is rotten so there's not much incentive to do challenging content PVE wise except for the fun of it. PVP is a blast at all levels really if you make sure you're on the right server with level appropriate people.
There's my honest assessment of ESO. Overall its way more fun at the moment to me than WoW or FFIVX and less crazy feeling than Wildstar. It has a GW2 flavor with more emphasis on the trinity in group play.
Hey guys thanks for the replies i had a buddy check the cash shop to make sure it wasn't too crazy and he said he is actually really dissapointed in it.
Also a question to you longer time players how are the dungeons in that game? I love to do PVE content but i really hate whe its a struggle to find lower level dungeons that people still participate in and also for tanking what are the current tank classes?
Thank you Captain Obvious.
Are you also going to point out that they are both Games and that they feature different people in the game?
edit, i cant read, corrected myself
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
That is what I did.
since they removed the multiplayer from FF Type 0 HD now i see the game as those single player games that you buy, beat the game, then trade it for something else. With that in mind i would pick up ESO which, as an mmo, tends to me for longer term gameplay. Then pick up FF Type 0 HD when its cheaper.
That is what i would do. I suggest you get the one you want to play the most. I dont know the price of FF but if its full price $60 then IMO it isnt worth it. Its an old PSP game ported with less features (based on what i read, but taking the mp out is enough reason to drop the price before i buy it imo).
I haven't played type-0 (although I want to, maybe after Bloodborne), but ESO is a really nice mmo. Now would be a good time to start if you are worried about lower level dungeons and so forth. As for tanking, any class can do it depending on build, although I think Dragon Knight is most suited for that. Its not like tanking in purely taunt based tank-and-spank type games like wow though.
Cash shop is nothing to worry about, if anything it is underwhelming. It is nothing like cash shops in games like Arch Age etc.
Then again, you could get type-0 now and then pick up ESO for the consoles when it releases mid-year (if you like playing on the console better).
Disappointed as in there's just not much in there? There is no crown to gold conversion, or buying items to sell. Pets, costumes, mounts, and some in game common consumables.
What are you talking about? ESO's cash shop is one of the least aggressive cash shops i've seen in an mmo. The prices are actually decent. You can get an account wide mount for $9, pets for $4 and outfits for $7. No power advantages or even XP potions there. What exactly will come back to bite you? I really can't figure out if you are just an ESO hater spreading misinformation or just possibly have gotten some bad info from some random internet guy. Either way, you are completely wrong.
I've been playing ESO since the B2P launch. I have not experienced any of these things you are saying. Haven't had any bugs, lag or server queues. The servers are literally in the same shape they were in before the B2P change. Are you maybe making an assumption based off of past mmo experience?
ESO is a pretty poor game and it is going to drop in price in a couple of months, I'd just wait on it personally. Right now the prices are inflated because it just went F2P but that price is just going to go down in the future.
Every game gets sales a few months after launch. So, you are definitely right on that. Also, ESO went B2P not F2P.
I can contest to this. I'm not a huge fan of the game, I do like it, but I started back up the other day and I haven't had any lag at all. In fact, I thought the population would be much more aggressive and it has been pretty alright!
OP, I would do some more research on youtube and decide from there. Coming here for advice has always just been about slamming titles. You probably won't get good advice...well you might, but then someone will contradict it and just screw up your decisions.
