Finally ready to start loving again

ok folks,... I've downloaded the 14 day trial and I'm liking what I see so far.

I'm a SWG refugee so, it took me a while to find something close to what I had there,... this is fun enough that the healing can begin now.

two questions:  1) I'm looking for a strong PvP guild that will help me create a nuanced character that can kick butt when needed.  What makes for a good PvP guild in DAoC? 2)  Can some of you post some useful links as to how to build up a strong character fast and what to look for in PvP character development? Actually, any strategy guild links are appreciated,.. I'm still not sure what to sell and where when I loot,..

Be well,

Sometimes your husband kills all the Jedi, chokes you, and breaks your heart, causing you to die in childbirth.

Sometimes your planet gets blown up so the Empire can test fire their weapon.

And sometimes, the same geniuses who paid Mariah Carey $20 million NOT to sing get put in charge of your MMORPG.

Erm... every class is useful and has a role in PvP.  Some, by their nature, are more in demand than others.  It all depends on your playstyle and what you enjoy doing.  If you prefer ranged combat then a caster or archer is probably best.  If you like to get up close and personal then some form of melee class is best.  If you like to be very verstile then choose a hybrid of some form.

As to strategies?  They're class specific.  So the first question is what do YOU enjoy in a game?  Then you pick a class that lets you do those things.  THEN worry about PVP strategy, etc.

Let's break it down for him a bit further shall we. Keep in mind I will talk about only the Albion realm classes because thats all I've played and I enjoy the "good" side. :)

Tank classes: (not for high damage but damage absorption and tanking)

Armsman (hardcore tank) - has some powerful 2h weapons and other heavy combat abilities
Mercenary (tank with better melee) - can dual wield weapons and has nice positional attacks

Stealth classes: (damage dealing with stealth/hiding capability)

Infiltrator (assassin) - extremely high damaging critical strike attacks, assassination, stealth/hiding
Scout (archer) - extremely high long range damaging attacks, stealth/hiding
Minstrel (bard) - support class, heal song, speed song, power regen songs, minor mez songs, and light DD songs, stealth/hiding

Caster classes: (high damage dealing with some utility)

Wizard - fire/ice/earth high direct damage spells, highest damaging spells in Albion realm
Theurgist - moderate to high direct damage spells with ability to cast pets, root, utility, ability to chain stun enemies, some pets are high damaging depending on which way you spec
Cabalist - pets, lifetaps, disease spells, root and other utility, no real high damage DD's though
Necromancer - a class of their own, best PvE solo class, lifetaps, pet damaging, power regen, hp regen, ability to chain pull high con mobs, not exactly desirable in RvR
Sorcerer - moderate direct damage spells, best crowd control class with AOE mezzes, speed buffs, power regen buffs, best utility caster class IMO
Cleric - best healing and buffs, not really offensive unless you specialize in Smite but then you lose out on healing/buffing

Hybrid classes: (both melee and caster)

Friar (half cleric/half monk) - healing ability, great buffs, great melee ability with their staves
Reaver (half fighter/half necro) - great melee ability, light to moderate lifetapping ability, high damaging attacks at high levels, some nice Realm Abilities later on, Reavers don't really shine until level 50 honestly, ability to do a 9 second anytime stun at later levels
Paladin - can do awesome with 2handed weapons, they also get chants (sorta like spells) but they are pulsing every number of seconds, etc
Heretic (half dark priest/half evil cleric) - great buffs, decent healing ability, can spec as a melee heretic and do quite well, ability to resurrect dead players into monsters to aid in fighting battles in RvR, etc etc. Also has a few nice DoT tricks up their sleeve. Well rounded class.

There you have it. Probably not the best class guide but from what I've seen so far these are pretty accurate. Of course Kunou and Elnator will probably add their own guides to this as well, and they might even critique mine. :)

    Thanks and good luck!

What makes a good 50 guild? Thats a simple one. The guild must have alot of members, and alot of 50s, thats all it takes seriously. A good RvR group consists of just being a FG with a 1-2 healers, 1-3 casters, 1-3 tanks. All you need is a FG in RvR and you should be good.

A good guild is an active guild. Almost ANY guild except for starter guild is a good guild

Guild Wars - Rorick Aurlith E/Mo pumped up with the best armor and weapon, has all his skills, and runes. PvP King!

Dark Age of Camelot - Leaton 50 Vampiir - Lamorak - Guild: Magic and Mayhem!
