It is common knowledge OP. A few weeks ago Matt Firor said they would be adding XP pots at some point.

Is this what I expected? It's better than I expected. I might actually level my v4 Sorcerer when they go live.

That's rather high. I assume that was data mined for the client? I was expecting a 10% boost just like the sub perk.

I'm also curious about the yellow color. Makes me wonder if there will be different levels (greens, blues and purples) at different prices.

experience potions should not be a problem if they dont gimp non-subscribers experience rate.

Keep the same experience rate as always and let people with less time to play and more money and arent subbers to help boost their experience gain.

The real problem comes when they drastically reduce non subscribers experience gain rate to force people to buy the pots. I usually stop playing when that happens.

50%?  Wow, they're shooting awfully high on the "difference between buying and not buying" meter this early (although it wouldn't be the first time an MMO set the bar at +50%)

This is about the only thing that would get me to spend my crowns. I would level up some alts. Otherwise, my crowns will just pile up till some dlc comes out.

I've never had a problem with EXP potions in games like ESO that split up PvP and PvE.  On games like AA, that's where it becomes P2W because the PvP is mixed in with the PvE.  Having someone reach max level just a few hours into the launch when the vast majority of players are only like level 10, then you got a problem.

Well they have to make it enticing to buy from the crown store.  But yeh, that's pretty high.

That sounds great, levelling is quite slow in ESO. It will be nice to just hit the major storyline or wonder around doing quests I like while levelling instead of feeling like I need to do every quest. The CD is funny though- 7,200 seconds...

You're joking right? ESO leveling definitely is not what you can call slow.

And what's funny about the CD? It's 2 hours, which is the same length of the duration of the potion, its to be expected. They made it the same length as the duration just to "idiot proof" the potions so people didn't waste them on accident.

I know there's some concern and discussion around what types of items you'll see in the Crown Store in the future, and I want to stress that our philosophy of convenience and customization will always be used to make the determination of what goes into the store and what doesn't. As such, I can tell you that we'll almost certainly have experience boost potions in the store at some point, as this kind of shortcut (spending less time to gain experience) is classified as a convenience. That way, you still have the choice of purchasing them with crowns or in-game gold.

Edited existing article from Feb on their own site with no indication that it has been edited since it was quoted around everywhere.

Must be convenient to just change the past like that - you guys better watch out. The lies for this company keep building. I know you all seem to be happy about these potions but it's not looking good if they are going back and editing previous words so that you can't hold them against them.

Watch out for what aside from things do tend to change?

I get your overall point, it's one way to look at it, another would be things changed and they updated accordingly. Either way that's what happened. Such is the way of business. Call it a lie, call it speaking too soon. You should always consider what they're saying may change.

The reality is, it's hard dealing with this type of consumer. Too many of us take this position of "watch out".... It's not all that different than a parent speaking to children. ( which I'm not saying we're children),,, It's more like saying a person is smart, yet people are stupid. In groups we're apt to confuse a bit of wind with the house falling down around us. Ever told your kid you're gonna take them somewhere, yet realize later you can't? Ever told your pet you'd bring them their favorite treat, yet forget on your way home from work? Ever told someone everything would be okay, even though you knew it wouldn't?

in a perfect world people would understand it's nothing more than the dynamics of business... one day this sounds good on the drawing board, the next day it doesn't. That's the nature of ongoing development as well as business..

Contrary to popular belief in these parts corporate image is important to many companies. Hence why things like this (changes in wording) happen.

I can't think of many companies at all that have not done such multiple times. It's pretty much inevitable at some point as people are people, they try too hard to sway fears, promising the world, only to have to chew on some shoe.

I'd say this about companies who make products I can't stand, along with my favorites... It's life...

Comcast, AT&T, EA, TWC, Walmart...i can continue.

What do all these companies have in common? In varying degrees, they all have terrible corporate image. What else do they all have in common? They are all very very successful corporations despite their supposed "important corporate image".

So really, how important is corporate image again when it comes to making money? Look at R2Games, Nexon, Zynga. They all have in varying degrees terrible corporate images, yet they are still very very successful and are making bank.

Huh? Watching this game? As in you aren't even playing it?

Either way...you're making this into something it's clearly not. You think it's doing something it's not and you aren't having fun. So get over it and find something fun to do....eh?

Of course it's gonna stack with the subscriber bonus, why in the world wouldn't it and in fact what game is this not the ever the case?

As for doubling the time, until they release the price you can't really say they should. So as you said, really just depends on the price.

They have really reduced the xp in this game.  Like SWTOR you have to do all the side quests and a little grinding to keep from being under leveled in the next zone.

Never had this problem in eso or swtor highly doubt any xp has been lowered would have people raging on forums.

I love it, since i only have a few hours of playtime this would help me advance much faster :)

And IF this is true then u would gain a 60% exp increase ?

  • WarlyxWarlyx Member EpicPosts: 3,368

if they dont nerf normal xp rates , i have no issues with xp potions. (games that go f2p or b2p and nerf exp rates to force ppl to sub ....WRONG! )

false. Why peeps like to spread missinformation? If you playing the game why you lie about it? if you don't play it, stop making that kind of comments.

XP WAS NEVER REDUCED. Grind spots were. Even more.. Veteran levels take less xp now.

If you read/listen to all the quests, read all the books and get into the game's lore it is pretty slow. And way slower than several other mmos I have played, and of course mind-numbingly slow compared to Skyrim (which is to be expected for an mmo, I guess). There is no easy way to level like through battlegrounds. The whole game has a slow paced feel to it. That's not a criticism, its just an observation- and before you say that's just my subjective opinion- actually it is a fairly widely observed opinion. Again that's not a bad thing, I love how the world is so in depth and complex.

What's funny about the CD is that it is 7,200 seconds, I am not sure why you don't see the humor/strangeness in that.

For me i dont read most of the quest's, only the main one. So leveling is quite fast for me.
