Triad Wars is a F2P asynchronous MMO currently in closed beta from Square Enix and United Front Games. Taking place in the same universe as open world cult hit Sleeping Dogs, Triad Wars blends a lot of RPG elements with city management and other forms of progression to create a unique blend of genres. For no money, the combat was fun as heck.
Now, which one of you will adorn me today?
Besides the obvious MMO banter,what i don't like about these games is the same thing i see over and over.The cities are nothing but meaningless fake backdrops.That kind of development is lazy and rushed and not something i want to play.
At the VERY least,i would expect instance entering these shops and stores but instead they are just textures painted on the face of a cheap model,and turns me right off.I think after Square made FFXI and realized how much work,cost and time to recover the investment,they decided to not do that ever again.
It is not just Square of course i see it in all games,everything looks copy/paste or assembly line game development.I guess an easier way to say it is,i do not see heart and passion in game designs,i see businesses rushing out products to make money.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Ahhhhh, the "making money is evil" argument. Never seen that before.
I'd make the argument that ADD is killing the MMO genre. People are given so much these days that they don't even need to invest time or money to check out a game. As a result we get these super-entitled attitudes, like not willing to sit through a trailer because we've "seen it all before", instead of taking some time to actually differentiate a game from others. Instead we just "bin" games out of convenience. So all MMORPGs become "WoW Clones", all FPS games become "CoD wannabes", all MOBAs are "LoL Clones" . Then we just hop online and see which way the lemmings are running to determine the direction of our arguments. Either that or we go against the grain and be "edgy" and say something that completely contradicts public opinion.
Sorry, but if you really think we're lost right now, try going back to the 90s. People think that early MMORPGs were so great, but it was really just a lack of anything else. If you wanted to play a roleplaying game with friends, it was on a MUD.
I'm not saying Triad Wars is going to be good, but I am going to say that your assessment of it doesn't lend any credibility to your statement that we're lost.

This game is a big pile of misleading shit! Why would they call that an MMO. Heck even APB allowed you to play with others, even though it was only 50vs50. The movement in Triad Wars is clunky and stubborn. It feels lonely and boring.
I hope an AAA dev or even indie makes an MMO in a city and allows you to play with thousands of people. I'm so sick of these medieval games that keep on popping out everywhere. Check the game list, 70% of the games are medieval games. The rest is sci-fi. And a few real life games, but none of them come close to a GTA MMO.
The combat feels broken compared to the smoothness of the original game.
The world is almost empty from npcs.
There isn't anything to do when you raid every while you wait for the timers to restart. This game has timers by the way

how could you not mention how badly pay2win the game is? This is essentialy a clash of clans cash shop game where you compete on ladderboards and the cash you spend directly affects how high on the leader board you will get...
All clothes / vechiles come from Gold (cash curency) all the favor cards come from gold, it is super buy2win not sure how you didnt mention that but its a total cash grab avoid this game if it isnt changed its just a micro nightmare.

In other words, it's just like those Facebook/Znyga games, such as Mafia Wars.
