Is there a good site that explains the writing and use of macros .. or could someone perhaps give me a crash course? I'm not having a lot of luck trying to figure it out myself. Specifically wanting a hotkey to assist and to target self. Thanks in advance.

If I remember correctly it should be /macro assist /assist
The general form is /macro [what you want the button to be called] then [slash command]
If that doesn't work then reverse the order but I think that is the command.
Aye, thats the correct order: /macro [name of macro] [/slash command to be performed]

The Epic Edition manual has instructions of how to create a macro, also
It's downloadable from Mythic in PDF format and can be found here

Before it's asked:
No, Macros cannot do multiple commands or call other macros. They are merely to bind a single /command to a hotkey. You can't create a macro that does a chain of actions in DAOC.

I find this one helps a ton, both in RvR and PvE.
/macro MA /macro ASST /assist %t
This create a macro, put it on your hot bar.
Just target the person you want to assist then click on the macro and this create a new macro icon that use to assist the person you want to assist. Place the newly made assist macro on your hotbar...
If you want to changes the person you are assisting, while hoping from group to group you can just do this simple macro to always have the updated assist macro, great for those of us who are too lazy to type /macro assist /assist Person_Name.
