Is this game in a state where it's stable enough to play? I tried the Pathfinder alpha/early enrollment and the client crashed every couple of minutes, when I could get into the game at all. Luckily, I had a buddy key. I don't want to spend money on The Repop and find it's in the same condition.
Thanks!

I would strongly recommend you wait until it goes free to play.
Buying it now is a good chance for disappointment.
Because it's unstable?
You will probably crash a lot less if you shackle yourself to a crafting bench, the majority of crashes are from zone transitions and memory leaks.
Waiting for:

Oh, once an hour isn't that bad. I've seen worse in released MMO's!
It's stable enough to play.
Couple things though: Crafting- Very bloated and material heavy. Also many, many steps to make anything. In fact, you can't really craft anything from start to finish. It's not designed that way. It would take weeks to make one thing. Instead, you make a couple parts, buy the rest from other players, and slap it together. New item, yay. Satisfaction from making something, not really. People aren't calling it crafting anymore, but Widget making.
Server wipe. - All character progress will be wiped at least once before launch. Probably when moved from alpha phase to beta phase.
Was perfectly stable on my PC.
Thats one of the few things that impressed me about it.

Its very stable for me as well.
Its in a very playable state at the moment and its getting better with each patch. Saying that this is an alpha test still just about to go in to beta. You will not get to keep your character at the end of the test and the servers will get wiped.. so if you are thinking about picking it up now to start playing then I would say wait for release.. if you want to get involved testing the game then its in a very good state for you to do that without having many technical problems so you can basically get down to bug testing game features instead of hardware problems
Thats the point in the crafting system, you are not supposed to be able to craft everything you specialise in something.. so say weapons crafting, instead of having to make all the componants you buy them in and then create the weapon and thne sell the weapon on, or you could be at the other end of the spectrum and want to make the componants so you buy the materials and create the componants and sell them on to the weapon creafter and so on.. thats how the econamy works and for me thats a good thing.
Dont really like games when you can do everything yourself.
Caldrin is correct.
However if you are playing this game for the crafting I would liken it to EVE. Not in a gameplay sense, but in a complexity and abstract sense.
Widget making is fine but you will not get satisfaction from it. The satisfaction comes from the abstract aspect of being part of a large economy as a whole. And deciding and planning how you will go about that. Similar to EVE.
So if EVE did not appeal to you for its complexity and spreadsheet economy, then Repop likely won't as well. Pretty much what guarantees this game to occupy a similar niche.
Not knocking it, just saying you have to understand it for what it is. I had to play it before I understood, so just putting it out there.

It is playable, and ive not really had any crashing issues myself. However the game does still need a LOT of work so keep that in mind going in. It has a decent amount of things to do, but certain things like combat and trying to do missions can get very tedious / annoying due to bugs, performance hiccups, etc.
Overall it is definitely worth checking out, just have to keep an open mind going in knowing that a lot of things are very basic right now and will hopefully become much more polished and functional with time.
