in Guild Wars
ok i have 5 attribute points to be distributed and i go to the trainer and i cant train on anything with them? whats the deal there? all it says is do you want to know where the other trainers are. im a lvl 5 W/E.

You might have confused Guild Wars with other typical MMORPG. The Attributes CANNOT be train, but rather gain by leveling up your character, and with with attribute points you can distribute the point among other skills you want to use; higher attribute points mean powerful skil attck/defend. It looked like you already went to the trainers and aquired both primary and secondary profession. So there's nothing else a trainer can do except giving you the profession and tips.
You can spend you attribute points whenever you want, and you can switch allready applied points as long as you are in an outpost.
Trainers teach skills. All but 30 attribute points are gained through levelling, the last 30 of which are gained through quests: one that grants 15 in the Crystal Desert and one that grants 15 in the Southern Shiverpeaks. By that time, though, you should know how to use them.
You will also pick up skills through accomplishing certain quests. By the time you reach Ember Light Camp in the Ring of Fire Islands, you should have most of the skills you will ever need or use. If not, you can buy any you need there, then hunt for "elite skills" on Perdition Rock or in any of the Ring of Fire missions.
Obviously, though, that's looking way, way ahead for you.

sorry for the noob *attribute* part - i meant skills - what happens is it says i have 7 skills to use at thte trainer - so far so good. i go to the trainer and they dont allow me to use any skill points? they simply say do you want to know where another trainer is? am i making any sense? i appologize that im new at this game.

Once you think youve explored plenty and know your way round, grab a good weapon, setup your skills the way you like and talk to the guy at the gate on the east side of ascalon. From there on, it will become more obvious.
