As I'm sure some of you have noticed from my other posts, I'm one of the many who have pre-ordered DDO and have spent some time in the 10 days allotted for beta testing. I have a general understanding of the game mechanics, many of the classes, and a good feel for the game that leaves me confidant I'll do well on my characters after release. As I personally enjoyed the game, I do understand that many of you didn't - so this post isn't to discuss what is good, or bad, or who does or doesn't like the game. This post is for everyone who is interested in the game, and has similar outlooks and beliefs on what their game experience should be like.
With that in mind, I wanted to inform everyone (officially) that I will be starting a guild during the head-start event granted to Pre-Order players. I'm opening this guild up for recruitment of serious players who share the following beliefs and traits:
-Any Mature player, who can get along with their party respectfully during quests and down time.
-Any player who is willing (and desiring) to take their time when doing the quests, and adventuring in the various dungeons explorable in the game. This includes allowing time for traps to be searched out and properly deactivated, uncovering and exploring all areas of the maps, and properly assuming your Class role to work together as a group skillfully and smoothly. Any players wishing to rush through quests/dungeons, eager clickers wanting to press every switch and open every chest/door first or engage every mob immedietly when it is seen (rather than knowing a specific plan of action of the group) is not the type of player we are looking for. A serious understanding of the game classes and abilities will come from these experiences, and in time you will learn to master your class in various situations.
-Any player willing to accept the 'need before greed' attitude on all items found within dungeons. Being that there is a bank to store items as well, it is reccomended that should you find a very useful item while questing and no one can use it in the group at the time, store it for a guild member for later. There will be no expectations of the necessity to trade or buy items in order to part with/gain an item from a guild member. We will be a completely open economy within the guild, sharing freely all of our un-needed bounties from our adventurers.
-Any player looking to take some time occasionally to assist lower level members of the guild (or members who have not yet progressed to the point that you have quest wise; meaning you are willing to go back and re-do a quest to help a guild member through it). You must be willing to assist your fellow guild members in progressing through the game, however - keep in mind that you should not try to ruin their experience and enjoyment of the quests (which you have previously completed) by rushing them through it. Assist them willingly, but do not force them straight through to the objectives in an attempt to get back to your own particular quests.
-Any player willing to be communicative throughout the guild. We will not have a web page/forum system set up immediately, but we all do have email. Whether you are a hard core gamer or a casual gamer, try to remain in contact with the rest of the guild about what is going on. If you know you'll be able to spare a couple of hours this coming weekend to play, send an email out and organize a party to complete a particular task. Or, visa versa, if you know you won't be around a while, inform us so that we can keep an eye out on new equipment for you and know that you haven't left the game/guild without informing anyone. All emails can be sent primarly to me and I can then forward it out to the other members if preferred.
At first glance, this may look like a guild that is a little too serious for some player's tastes or preferences, but in all actuality, it really shouldn't be (unless you just don't meet those same preferences when playing the game). It should be a fun and interactive guild, simply interested in bringing serious players together to enjoy the game with, and assist one another in advancing through the quests. If you think you might be interested, either leave a post in this thread saying such (with your email included), or email me directly at patrick.chase1@us.army.mil. To everyone not inerested, I wish you the best of luck within the game and will assist you in any way I can, regardless of your guild choice. Thanks everyone, and I hope to get some good requests to join!

Follow this link and join the guild I am in. This way you don't have to worry about running a guild while your overseas. Your playstyle and ours are just alike. Check out the website, the charter and etc. and if you like what you see then apply. There is no reason to have more than one guild that has the same ruleset. All the guys in this guild put family and real life first and are casual gamers like myself and like you are if you do any work over there. So go ahead and check it out. I think you will like what you see and will join. If you don't then proceed with creating a guild.
Guild ? For what purpose? Just to have a group to instance with? Thats about the only reason for it. you dont even need a guild, just a buddy list or meet people in the tavern.
This is another reason why this game won't do well. In other games you could have wars between guilds or need a guild for crafted items and survival. Here the only purpose is for grouping. But the Guild itself will not have any interaction with other guilds or participate in guild events.
A guild in this game will be very limited in what it can actually do. The world is not open enough to promote a lot of different guild activities. Just seems like a waste of time if you ask me. Sorry to flame but when i saw this post I was just wondering "what the hell good is a guild anyway?".
But hey, if it floats your boat to have a guild for instancing, then enjoy. Guess its something to do. I just want to point out that a guild will only give you the advantage of having people to instance with. Just think if a guild had more potential, how great this game could have been.
Guilds in DDO:
-Close knit group of players who are interested in the same style of hunting (rush, slow paced, etc) - who know eachother, enjoy hunting with one another constantly, and know how each person does in groups (is this sorcerer more supportive or damaging, etc).
-Sharing loot items/saving loot items to share within the guild.
-Always knowing that, no matter how often or rare you log into the game, someone you know is going to be in the game, and someone you can trust to hunt with is available.
-Ease of amassing raid groups, or getting assistance from higher level group members.
Just because you don't enjoy the game doesn't mean you need to completely flame it or other people's enjoyment of it. You're always welcome to state "I did not enjoy the game because of this" or so, and you're welcome to ask questions if you don't understand something... But merely because I see potential in the game, and the reasoning for creating/joining a guild, doesn't mean that you need to be immature and insult us about it. Thank you for your question though, and hopefully that clears some of it up for you.
The Council of Valenar is the guild name. Here is the copied and pasted link from the address bar when I am at the sites homepage.
