Turbine has announced that the surprise DM for the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons Online content expansion called "Reign of Elemental Evil" will be none other than Wil Wheaton himself.
According to Turbine, Wheaton has recorded all of the dialog that players will hear from the DM as they progress through Reign of Elemental Evil that is set to be released today.

Are you by any chance Sheldon Cooper?
edit: I hadn't played this in years. Off chance I thought I would try it again after some ESO. It's even on Steam now.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
So the guy that hates gamers and is famous for being the star of all the worst episodes of TNG (even worse than the beardless Riker episodes) is doing something to an old MMO.
No thanks, I'll pass.
Don't get me wrong, I love to bash Wesley just as any other Trek fan out there () but I'm clueless about the "guy that hates gamers" part... as far as I know he's frequent on Con's, used to play himself, etc.
Not to mention, I believe he was asked for this because he's a well-known D&D player and fan (pen'n'paper I mean, dunno whether he plays DDO or not).
Also, what's wrong with TNG season 1? It had some pretty cool episodes... and if Frakes uses the razor during the off-season break, there wouldn't be a bearded Riker at all...

You'll have to show some evidence to this as I've seen him do a stint (maybe more?) on geek and sundry about games.

Maybe he doesn't like certain elements about "gamer culture"? Heck, I don't either.
More on topic, I'd love to play this "module" but leveling in DDO's initilal world is just too painful for me. It's just so dreadfully dull and "whimsical" for my taste. "dull and whimsical" who would have thought.
akin to "tedious and brief".

Yall do know he is doing Tabletop AND DMing a custom made tabletop RPG on geek and sundry too, in addition to everything else
Not that he needs defending.
But Will has always been a huge AD&D and PnP gamer. Also he really loves his table top games.
And in truth its not his fault they wrote his character to be pathetic, whinny, dumb kid. Look at how they treat "teens" in movies now. They are the super heros, vampires, saviours of the world and galaxy.
He got shafted.
And hes funny as hell if you watch Table Top on the Geek & Sundry YouTube channel. Especially his Cards Against Humanity episode. Which I wont link because Im sure I'd be banned.
And OMG Aisha Tayler is over the top nuck'n futs.
And I love her...
Im in love with her.

LOL, cards against humanity was over the top. I loved it!
Good for Will... Desperate move by Turbine.
I´d play Neverwinter over DDO any time.
This have been a good conversation
Apples and pc... oranges i think very different games, not only by the rulesets, with different audiences targeted. True, both games go the Elemental Evil way this year, so it's not unexpected for some to compare them.
Personally I think DDO is a much better game overall, while Neverwinter is more fun in short bursts, flashier, and also has the Foundry which is great. I like both, but only among my 2nd level games - I favor LotRO from Turbine, and STO from Cryptic instead
