Any Word on an Update?

cutbirth01cutbirth01 Member UncommonPosts: 17

I know they have moved into the quality over quantity direction, which is great, but its been about 6 months since we've seen any media (video/screen shot, etc..) of significance. It's almost annoying to be as excited as I am about this game, so the silence is starting to eat away at my soul! I'm planning on backing the game once I can see a little more content and get an idea when the Alpha access will be getting close to rolling out.

I find myself rereading the same threads over and over again along with watching the same videos repeatedly, so the idea of something new being released is pretty exciting.

Lets hope we hear something soon.

Edit: I did forget they released a video in Feb. I was looking in the "videos" section on the Pantheon site prior to posting, and that video is not posted there.

Six months? Not sure if you're exaggerating or if you missed out on the recent round table discussion and the latest video from February. Because there have been several significant updates in the past six months.

Alpha date is not set in stone but was aiming to be mid to late this year depending on development

I did forget about the February video ( it doesn't show up on their "videos" tab, last one is from Nov), although I've watched it several times, but I was referring to media updates. I suppose I should have been a little more specific.

They we're doing screenshots on the daily screenshot thread for a while there, but that stopped back in December.

Either way, the question remains the same, I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything even hinting at when they are looking at releasing a new media update?

I check the boards daily, but I always feel like I'm somehow missing something.

I think a lot of us know how you feel! I know for sure that I'm definitely one of the people super excited for more info, though with such a small team I try to keep my hopes and dreams under control lol.

The last media update we released was the Developer Round Table Part 2 on March 13, 2015. A little over 3 weeks ago. Previous to that was the first Developer Round Table instalment 10 days prior on March 3, 2015. 3 days Previous to that was a WASD Radio Interview with Joppa and Monty.

We released this on our Facebook page yesterday Update

"Quick update: the conversion to Unity 5 is complete, although taking full advantage of U5 will be an ongoing process. We are making steady forward progress in key areas, namely by focusing on the level 1-10 player experience for each class and all of the underlying systems. We owe you guys a significant development update and we will be working to deliver that in next 1-2 weeks - stay tuned!"

Other than this very quick Facebook release, everything is on our Development site, including polls and discussions.

We are hoping to have another release ready in the next few weeks but as we have stated several times now, we are slowing releases down while we concentrate on the quality and size of our work, we are currently working very hard on early stages of classes, races and combat, all of which we do not want to rush, so the updates will be a bit slower but don't let that fool you into thinking we have slowed the pace of development down!

The team is working harder than ever and I can't wait to share with everyone their hard work in the next few weeks.

If you are sick of reading threads, feel free to start one in the appropriate sub forum and get the community talking about something you have been thinking about!

No worries mate you just keep doing what you are doing to bring us a great game. People should actually do a search before making these type of threads.

Good news there on that FB update.  And, to the OP's point, it does "seem" longer than 3 weeks; even though that 6 months was extreme.  But, when I have checked myself on the Pantheonrotf.com site recently to see how long it's been - I've realized what you posted Kilsin and that it truly hasn't been "that" long.  But, that feeling of it seeming longer is a good thing - because the addiction and anticipation is building.

I know some have been following Monty and Joppa on unity streaming sessions since the last update; although, I'm not sure how often they are on it as I've been busy lately and haven't had the time to check it out unfortunately.

I'm guessing neither one of you read past the original post lol. I clarified what what I meant about the release of media, and admitted that I forgot about the February video release (I missed it b/c its not in the Pantheon video section /shrug). Its funny how up in arms people get on these boards over a simple question from an excited follower of this game. My post was negative in no way at all. I never said I was bored, or upset in anyway, quite the opposite, I stated I was just excited for more media content to be released.

Thankfully there are a few like-minded people who are also excited and responded to my question with their own excitement and desire to see  more content released about the game.

I read how many negative people post on these (MMORPG in general) boards, and in no way enjoy reading it, much less be a part of it.

The update will continue come as and when they are ready. To many devs bow under pressure from followers for more updates then we get into the realms of updates that are crap and not really updates. I prefer less with quality than more that are crap.

I prefaced my post with the understanding that I knew the releases were coming slower, which I'm totally fine with. I constantly have the feeling I'm missing something (like the update on facebook yesterday about the unity 5 update, yay), so I thought I'd come to the boards to check in with the community.

I was right though, I was missing out on some releases. I guess I need to check the FB page more! :)

Everquest and Vanguard allow me to know that when I do get my tax returns (which I finally filled out, just need to mail this Friday), I will likely go with that $300 support option as it looks good, and having my name in orange on their forums will look nice too. Everquest and Vanguard are the reason I know what they will put out will be great.

Vanguard is what keeps my hopes and dreams under control. The fact it was put out while having seizures (game breaking chunk-mob aggro deaths, through the world deaths and crashes for lots of people), and then chained (not 1 real expansion) for 7 years until finally put down, my hype meter is certainly tempered. I would still be on Vanguard today if it was simply up and running right now. Who knows, I might have never even heard of Pantheon then? I suppose I do have that to thank SOE / DBG for after all image... even though they took away the expertise system and rift system as well... *grrr*

The only things that have me a bit squeamish about Pantheon are the needing multiple types of gears and the multicolored manas. If those turn out to be the only points that may be disappointing to me, I'll still be ecstatic when Pantheon releases. Nay, when Pantheon releases I will release image! (lol, there's a mantra and an image) For all I know I may love those points more than I am currently assuming?

As buggy as Vangaurd was at launch once things smoothed out, it was one of the most epic feeling MMO's I've ever played, the class diversity and combat skills in that game were the best I've seen in any MMO.  I also have hopes that Pantheon can recapture that feeling of amazing freedom and combat.  The ranger class in that game was unbelievably fun, nothing comes close.

I read all of the posts before posting my reply, I just needed to be "general" for everyone to understand, I wasn't picking on you by any means mate!

Your support is much appreciated, I just wanted to reply to your original post as it had the question that the topic was started on and I wanted to give a more detailed post, I hope you didn't take it as me being negative towards you, that was never my intention, I just needed to be very clear for everyone reading so the information was accurate.

It can be tough posting sometimes, some people don't read all the way through and will just take things out of context, so I try to be thorough and include as much information as possible so the ones that do skim through still get all the information but that can mean the ones that do understand get offended thinking I am explaining it to them, which is not usually the case lol, sorry for the confusion.

Either way, thank you for the support and hopefully I can release something new to you all within a few short weeks! :)

When I start jonesing for Pantheon news I rewatch the most recent video (I've probably watched it 10x) and listen to the round tables over again.  I still enjoy hearing about Pantheon's development more than I enjoy the current batch of MMOs that are out there.

  • cutbirth01cutbirth01 Member UncommonPosts: 17

It's all good Kilsin, communicating /w text can become confusing when there are perceived inflections involved (perceived being the key word there!). You do a great job of interacting with the community and I think it is appreciated by all that follow this game. I for one am thankful you keep us up to date.

and lol Dullahan you sound about like me. I come to the boards everyday with my fingers crossed there will be something new and then end up digging through all the released content and forum topics trying to convince myself I'll find something that i may have missed. I'm basically turning into a Pantheon vulture.
