"It is almost impossible to pin down a favorite memory for a game that holds so many. When I reflect on the first year of ESO, I think about all of the people who were involved in bringing the game to our community. I think about tough meetings where favorite features had to be removed, and I think about tough meetings where favorite features got added. I think about late nights and weekends people had to stay to meet deadlines. I think about the difficulties it takes to keep creative people working on a path that not everyone agrees on. I think about criticism, and I think about praise. Launching such a project is tough and emotional in a way that few people understand. After all, it is just a game.
So what is my favorite memory? It is seeing people simply play and enjoy the game. It is hearing the very kind words of a community that sends along their thanks in a video (wow, was that awesome.) It is watching and playing alongside people who have no idea I am in the game with them, and hopefully wouldn't care if they did. It is knowing about people who are having a rough time in their life, and having them send their thanks for being a bright spot during that time. It is seeing these words: “I can't wait to get home today and play The Elder Scrolls Online." - Paul Sage, Creative Director
There're several cool post from the team. Take a look. It's a nice read.

Y'know, when something that I don't like succeeds, I don't bitterly troll the message boards for that game embarrassing myself. MMOs are different things than single player games; and as far as I'm concerned, Skyrim, although fun, was not as good of a game as Morrowind and was weaker in some respects than modded Oblivion.
And none of them came even close to Daggerfall...
Its best never to compare games to its predecestors, as most likely they where created to give a different experience.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Sounds more like nostalgia blinding you guys to me personally.
Be the Ultimate Ninja! Play Billy Vs. SNAKEMAN today!
The game went B2P for both console and PC. Much of that had to do with negotiations to get the game on consoles. It did not go F2P (yes there is a difference). Comparing this game to Conan (which I believe is doing ok still) isn't even close. Yes the game had a rough launch, much to do with them getting the mega server and phasing tuned, but it has come a long way and since the B2P Unlimited launch it has seen increasing activity.
I understand anyones aggravation with the game at launch, but I also give credit to the team over at ZOS for working hard to fix many of the bugs. The game runs great now and I am enjoying my adventures in the world of Nirn. Even Cyrodiil does not lag like it did back in early launch and beta.
Lol, oh and don't forget that you've got to mention all of the buzz terms and hot-button items.
"We've got to circle the wagons and create a new paradigm. Let's work to think outside the box and align our values to create a truly revolutionary product!" See, then we all cheer. You don't even have to know what they're talking about, it's just so magnetic!

Lol. None of us are immune from rosy nostalgia. First thing I thought of when I read your post was "Nah... Arena was the best of them all."
I still love my first ES character, a Dunner Sorcerer who couldn't regen Magicka on his own but absorbed spells cast at him and converted them to Magicka... or chugged Magicka potions to be ready to cast... and who could really use the spell maker to his advantage since he had a huge Magicka pool - greater than any other caster class.

Rough buggy start for ESO but even then it was enjoyable. It's nice to see how it's grown and persevered.
“Microtransactions? In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?”

Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing.

Too little too late for you, perhaps. Certainly not for many others, if the activity in-game since I'm back is any indication. There's folks everywhere, chat is active with people forming groups, questions from new players, etc... and the population's been poppin'.
As the saying goes... nothing is for everyone. Clearly, ESO wasn't for you.
I'm sure you'll find a game that satisfies you, as well.
I couldn't have said it better. "Too little too late" was something many said about SWTOR, but now I see it being recommended by many on different forums of this site. Of course it's all personal preference, but ESO to me is a pretty solid title and since it went B2P, it's always there to play when I want.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
