Reading all of this has made me give this game another try. All the side things you all talked about sound pretty cool. If I sub to the PC version can I also play my account on PS4?

Yes, your one subscription counts towards all platforms. You have to buy a copy of the PC, PS3 & PS4 versions, but you can link them all to one account and have that one sub work for them all.

I did call Eorzea home until I ran into the problem of finding time to actually play the game and participate in the activities I wanted to engage in. I mean, it is a very forgiving game time wise, but when you hit end game and the only thing awaiting you is grinding out beast tribes and daily dungeons with the possibility of primals being the only challenging option, things get stale fast.
I'm certain they've ramped things up since those pre-shiva days, but I'm not sure I got the heart for it anymore.
You sort of get stuck between a rock and a hard place with these kind of games and end game learning, especially when you only have an hour a night to mess around.
I just jump between three homes. 1. Vana'diel will always be my primary home, that is until they turn the game into a F2P pay to win fest. At which point I will completely abandon it. As it stands, I come back to Vana'diel once or twice a year for a two or three month period. It is and has been my main mmorpg since 2004.
2. Tyria is my home largely due to the beautiful world, characters, and community. A wonderful place to visit for a casual mmo player who is tired of the same old grind. I like to think of Tyria as my second home. It is the game I always go back to when I get tired of the tried and true formula.
3. Eorzea, third on my list but always a good time. Eorzea is like a beautiful summer cottage, it has its limitations, but I love to go back to it once a year and enjoy the environment.
I enjoy the time I spend on all three, I will probably never spend more time with an mmo than the time I spent in FFXI. Guild wars 2 is probably the closest I will ever come to a modern mmo home. FFXIV Is a nice game to play a few months of the year, but the end game tome hunting grind became very boring after hitting ilvl120 or so. I just no longer cared.
Once my home was Middle Earth back in the sub days along with Tyria(GW1), but now thats Eorzea cuz its well crafted world with beautiful ambient combined with great music.
Even tho i own GW2 too, it just doesnt feel like home cuz most of my friends quit the game long time ago and i dont find it much attractive anymore.
Eorzea got what Middle Earth had for me, random stroll in the sun enjoying the ambient, even tho Middle Earth had way larger zones to wander around.
