What are the best MUD's nowadays?

Not particularly interested in mmorpgs right now but I still need my roleplaying fix. Any recommendations for fantastic f2p MUDs with great lore and great communities?

Any mmo worth its salt should be like a good prostitute when it comes to its game world- One hell of a faker, and a damn good shaker!

A variety of play style whether you are in to PVP, legion warfare, rising in ranks of guild or city or perhaps a leisurely style of commodity collecting or pacifism. The options are endless.
