So I really am missing Vanguard right now and this game gives me something to look forward too, although cautiously, and I'm just wondering if there are any MMOs relatively similar out right now? And What are you guys playing while you wait?
ArcheAge with my guild (PvP) and trade runs/crafting - looking forward to next major update - ship combat revamp + customization + more zones. Do daily 14-20 trade packs for 100+ gold
EQ1p99 -maxed out bard - twinking my alts
Trove - mainly crafting and dailies as I have all classes maxed and am at 130 mastery
AoC - gankage with a HoX
Dabbling with a bunch of other games including Aion, Tera, Rift, TSW, ESO, Defiance, a bunch of single player RPGs and
I don't play any MMOs currently. There are none that has caught my interest after trying few new ones. Arche Age being the last one.
I play 2 games now.
1. Dragon Age: Inquisition
2. Poker (For money)
Between these games, work and having a life there is not much time left over. When Pantheon Alpha releases I will give "having a life" a paus, we shall see for how long.
Just started EQ2. I am only level 30. With that said I've been enjoying the game and the crafting. It is free to play so all it will cost you is sometime it give it a shot. I think it's a pretty decent game. Just my 2 cents

I would avoid EQ2. Every 5 levels is basically a repeat of the prior 5. Crafting is boring and pointless. Combat is a button mash.
Best thing I can say about it is that some of the music is really good, including the title theme.
What would you recommend then?
Good question. I too am looking for an MMO to get lost in while we wait for Pantheon. I loved EQ, but they have slowly chipped away at all of the goodness of EQ over the years. The current EQ is mostly just a shell of its prior self. Example: current EQ faction system vs old world EQ faction system.
Would love to hear some ideas as well, I especially love to craft. But the crafting has to be something where time and effort really make a difference. A game in which crafted items are in demand and not everyone can make the same items. EQ was my favorite MMO, however, I also loved Star Wars Galaxies for its crafting system.
I love deep, complex, challenging games. Seems everything now is just so casual.
I personally haven't played an MMO that was worth more than 2 months since Vanguard. The only thing out there that even gets my attention at this point are sandbox games, but they are always plagued with the same problem: they don't understand content is king. Even in a sandbox, there has to be stuff to do and a system of progression beyond just crafting and territory conquest. Somewhere along the line some dumb ass claimed "the players are the content" and they've been riding that train to failure ever since.
Just played Pathfinder online and it was more of the same. The PvE is totally stale, factions are limited, and the world just feels like a shallow backdrop, even though its a decent size. You can't even know how mobs of different factions regard you. I wouldn't be so hard on it because it is alpha, but they are charging a full $50 + $15 a month just to play, so they deserve it.
No current MMO on the market is appealing to me. So, waiting for Pantheon and praying.
Meanwhile it is mostly offline RPGs (kinda the same as current mmorpgs, those are solo games as well after all lol).
Jumping in and out of EQ 1 quite frequently if i desperatly need my MMO fix. p99 obviously as well.
Actually blizzard games across the board are fun. More fun if in a group (i am barly if ever playing alone).
MMOs finally replaced social interaction, forced grouping and standing in a line while talking to eachother.
Now we have forced soloing, forced questing and everyone is the hero, without ever having to talk to anyone else. The evolution of multiplayer is here! We won,... right?
Sadly it doesn't exist any good MMOs today (my opinion). Hopefully Pantheon will be one. The games I have most fun with and which I always returns to are:
1. Don't Starve. Extremely fun survival game with lots of charm. I really like the characters and mobs in that game.
2. Dungeon crawl (roguelike, simple graphic but really deep game).
3. Darkest Dungeon (roguelike, charming art style but quite hard)
4. Age of Wonder III (one of the best turn based games)
5. Terraria of course. Fun to play with your friends.

ArcheAge... hmm...
It felt like the only thing you did in ArcheAge was running... Running between different quests which took 3-5 minutes to complete. The game is quite overrated. At least for me.
Messing around with Firefall today. I have no idea if I am doing it right, but I am getting levels and doing .. stories .. themepark style. It is a very confusing game, sensory overload and an angel (voice) telling me what to do during battle so I miss most of it and end up following the pointers on screen mostly. Anyways I don't have time to play a game for real so its more out of curiousity.
Played some pnine earlier this year, for some reason I always get the urge around February and then I get over it a month later.
Tried to get some PoE going, but I can't seem to get into it anymore. PoE has gotten so damn complicated and changing so rapidly, it is hard to play it casually.. and I can't go back to normal, it has to be hardcore or I get bored.
WoW expansion lured me in and damn I feel stupid for wasting that money, what was I thinking.. owell atleast I didn't jump straight to a 90 character, I levelled through cataclysm and pandaland and I found pandaland the most fun.
Dabbling with Dungeon Defenders once in awhile, but they are not really moving in the direction I like... too little tower defense and too much hero action.
When I get some time to play for real again, I will try ESO.. or maybe something better has shown its face by that time
Soon perhaps nothing ,i am really tired of every game being on rails.Every single player following the same paths, same reasons there is no personal rpg aspects to these games. It is the EASIEST design to make,i wouldn't pay any producer much money to pull off games on rails, anyone can do that.
So until i see game with some effort,i might juts play some old single player games like Half Life and Quake etc etc.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Get off the rails then. Nothing is making anyone follow quest hubs or poor game design. Be a rebel and just forge your own path man!!!!! Power to the People!!!!!
edit: sorry, 70s flash back.

1. ESO since it's free weekend.
2. Destiny whenever i feel like easy FPS with a friend.
3. GTA V because i wanna know what the big kids talk about
4. FFXI almost daily since it's still the biggest and best
5. FFXIV when there is a free weekend to catch up with the story etc.

Recently started Aion and enjoying it. Looking forward to trying out Cabal 2 and Echo Of Souls.
Not sure why this Discussion is here, but I will throw in my 2 cents.
Right now I am playing ESO and Wildstar. mkay, ya I said it, Wildstar.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!
Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!
Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!
