Looking at this thread made me realise how dirt cheap desktops are. I mean it's ridiculous. It looks like desktops are selling for a grand total of nothing............................... If only I could live with a desktop as opposed to a laptop...

Squally, good picks on parts for the most part. Just the little details that don't really change anything. For GPUs in that price range you also had the R9 270 which would probably be better. For about $20 more you could have had something decent from this generation, but tight budgets mean some things go to the wayside. The fact you can fit in a GPU with an Intel CPU is probably the best option in your price range at this point since with an AMD APU you will need to spend a premium on memory.
On memory its just a preference thing. I think the current generation of Crucial Ballistix memory at 1.35v will perform better. For 1600mhz memory it will run about the same.
yeah sadly i was on tight budget and i even had to stretch it a little but it was duable, i believe the parts i got will do nicely for me for a good time, someone mentioned something about the cooler that comes with the processor sucks? if so do i really need to add a customized one ? i really dont have much money to spend right now.
