My MMORPG Dilemma (help me decide)

I've been hooked on MMORPGs since I EverQuest some six years ago, and I'm currently sitting here trying to decide which one I want to try/buy/play. I'm hoping I can turn to the MMORPG community here and have some help deciding which one would be the best investment. I will list my likes/dislikes, what MMORPG's I've played, and all that good stuff.

Right now I have an active subscription to World of Warcraft, but after almost two years of playing (I was in closed beta,) the game has become quite boring. So I'm looking for something else. I've normally kept two MMORPG's active with subscriptions, and have recently cancelled my City of Villains/CoH account.

Here is my list of played MMORPGs:

EverQuest
EverQuest 2
World of Warcraft
Dark Age of Camelot
Shadowbane
Toon Town Online
Horizons
Star Wars Galaxies
Anarchy Online
Final Fantasy XI
RF Online
Guild Wars
City of Heroes/Villains

Here is a list of my likes when concerning MMORPGs:

Community (friendly, lack of "d3wdz")
Roleplaying
Items
Character Customization
Not looking the same as others (item models, cosmetic options, etc)
Atmosphere!
End Game Content!
Crafting, resource gathering, farming.
Soloing

Here is a list of my dislikes when concerning MMORPGs:

Everything from my Likes list, but reversed :)
Being confined to a group to progress.

Reading what I've already put down, I can already see how hard it would be to help me, because I don't even know what I'm looking for now. I've been looking at EVE Online and Anarchy Online, and am debating on giving their free trial a try, but beyond that I'm hopeless. I was going to give Dungeons and Dragons Online a try, but after preordering and beta'ing it, I don't think it will last long.

I hope someone can help me decide what game would best fit my interests, give me some ideas, share their experiences with the MMORPGs that I might like, something!

Hoping to hear from someone soon,
Rob

    Well EVE:

Community (friendly, lack of "d3wdz") - EVE has an amazing community
Roleplaying - Only really works if you like to be a pilot.
    Items - Player made economy
Character Customization - amazing customisation on the character for your picture, amazing customisation on the ships and no levels so you can have any skills you want
Not looking the same as others (item models, cosmetic options, etc) - Your picture wont look the same, but your ships will.
    Atmosphere! - Amazing atmosphere
End Game Content! - there is no end game
Crafting, resource gathering, farming. - Alot of this
Soloing -  soloing, not an option.

Soloing not an option? That's weird, because I read in some places that it was great for soloing.

    Can you elaborate?

Sure you can solo, but you wont be having any fun.

EVE is all about Corps (player guilds) working together and making a difference in the Galaxy! Your corp can take over  0.0 space and defend it against other corps it's in war with.

You can't really do much without a corp once you get into the high end of the game!

If you are a solo player, you can solo effectivly in EVE if you do it right. The thing is you have to think like a solo player in a PVP game against Teams. You can think of it as being an Assassin or a Rouge, you have to sneak past them and find targets that are alone and take them out and get away before their friends show up and blow you out of the water. (or uh errr Space ::::02::)

Of course if you want to be Anti-Pirate, killing what some games call "greifers" but "greifing" isn't apart of EVE because that's what the game is about if you don't want to die play safe and stay in protected areas, then you will have a problem.

Umm.. I played Eve for 2 1/2 years, 95 % of that  completely solo.

I'll check out EVE, but judging from the tutorial and start, I don't think it's going to work out for me.

So what about other MMORPGs? I'm just gathering ideas, opinions, etc. to try and help me come to a decision.

    A Tale In the Desert.

-Awesome community, really. Probably the best on the MMORPG market

-Some people roleplay, rarely. But, no kids though.

-3 male models, 3 female models. You can edit all different clothes colors, and styles, height, skin color. You can change it whenever you wish.

-ATITD is just so different and original.

-You actually feel like you are in Egypt, the ambience is awesome and so realistic. Graws sways in the wind, very cool. Also, its very calm, relaxing.

-Different from other MMORPGs, there are different "Tales." Like now its Tale 2, it will be Tale 3 in about 3-4 months. All the players work together to finish the Tales. Read the FAQ on the site.

-Actually fun, very realisitic crafting. All buildings are built by players. You can start laws too and have them passed to effect the actual game.

-You can either be a part of a guild or just have a camp by yourself. Both ways you can enjoy yourself.

Developers and GMs are always avaliable, and the game is updated constantly.

well, it really looks like EVE, but have in mind it is a unique game, and not everybody likes it.

i see you want a game where to can play solo. you can do it on EVE. there will be just a few things you wont be able to do, like having POS or building a Titan, but by the time you would be able to do any of those things you will probably be in a corp. not because it is necesary, but because it is more fun.

if you decide to try, take one advice: DO NOT MINE, EVER!!!!

You should apply for Vanguard beta.

Seed and a Tale in the Desert both fit that outline pretty well... but neither have combat. I think you are gonna have to make some tradeoffs in your list.

    Carebear
    *WoW = Level 60 Priest*
    *EQ2 = Level 25 Druid*

Well i played EVE since Sept 2003 - Oct 2005 and i belive it's not a solo players game.
If your going to solo in the game, you will not have fun and quit.

The whole point of the game is about being in a Corp and grouping with them, having fun.

It's not like WOW where the ebst way to do it is solo the game.
