And they should snatch the High Elfs away from the Empire, hide far away from the WAR and kill whatever CHAOS faction was discarded for the PvP as a basic activity. (The Wood Elfs would be cool for the Imperials anyway).
It would add a gameplay for PvE players who doesn't give a damn about PvP, High Elfs and Brettonia are arguably the best faction for a PvE setting and attracts tons of non-PvPers.
It would require a little of work, a way to progress through PvE, rules about who they can group from other faction, when, for which quest and such stuff, prolly never group more than another faction at any given time.
Brettonia is after all, 1 of the most played faction in the RPG, where peoples doesn't fight each other but work together, it all add up to make sense as a PvE faction who just "forgot" to send support the renforcements to help the Empire, but they can assure that those renforcements are on their way as soon as a few administratives details are covered!

The reason why they are not included is because they are basically Empire -- in the physical sense.
In an initial start of a game, diversity is key to grabbing new players, and brettonia wouldn't add that diversity - at least in the beginning.
There is also the factor that Brettonia is heavily focused on fighting mounts, which would take much planning and consideration to other races to make that feature happen.
Overall, no one is going to be promised they will be able to play their favorite race when this game is released, because the 10+ races in the table top game would be way to much modeling and story to include. Your best luck is to create a very brettonian empire character, because even if they do include them at a later expansion, it won't be for at least a year and a half, not including the year we have to wait until W.A.R's release.

I have to disagree wtih you, from your statement, you're basing the entire game's content on the amount of playable races in the game. If ths were a new game concept and they said the playable races will be...____, you probably wouldn't have a problem with it. Although it could be said that you also may or may not be interrested in the game because you wouldn't have any idea what Warhammer was. But the point is, that you can't base a game's content on the playable factions.
It's just like all those people who refused to play Cityof Heroes because they couldn't be villains. Then when City of Villains came out they didn't understand the mechanics of the game. Everyone makes their decisions on the reasons they play games. And if yours is because they won't have ___ race then that's your loss. Just my $0.02
Scaramosh is right guys.
He mean he was hoping far more. Not in races especially, but in gameplay choices.
I think he is the only one who understand why I want Brettonia as a PvE faction. I would most likely play an ally of Brettonia (like the High Elfs in it). But...saddly MMOs often offer less and less, you have to do *insert whatever the devs feel is a decent endgame* or be left as a second class player.
Adding Brettonia with every *PvP loot* but unable to PvP, yet able to group everyone, would require some work, not that much. If they can't PvP, even if you include some aspects, like the mounts, it doesn't need to be balanced for PvP, they can't PvP. But that is preaching in the void.
My favorite races are Chaos (Khorne) and High Elf...I read that all chaos are united (I want to be sick) and I read that High Elfs are stuck in a rigig RvR alliance with a faction that is not even GOOD (I am sick). The High Elfs can't be any non-good ally any serious amount of time. This is why they go along relatively well with Brettonia (they are GOOD).
All this is pretty basic stuff about Warhammer. I am a fan, but not that much of a fan. Yet, I see them failing such basics. This is...disappointing.
Brettonia would prolly add more to the game then...orcs. I am sorry, but orcs, come on, even Chaos is more suitable for playing!
I am starting to be really disappointed with Mythic. Imperator was sounding soooo cool, so groundbreaking. They buy Warhammer, I was happy. I was expecting them to use the wisdom they learn in designing Imperator. I see very little of Imperator design docs wisdom into Warhammer. Kinda like if the designers behind Imperator got depressed and they put a programmer at the Design of Warhammer, not good, not good at all! (sorry, I love to tease programmers who design, some of them are great designers btw hehe)
And to the guy saying they are basically Empire...No way. The Empire is pretty much the Holy Roman Empire with some powders and everything, while Brettonia is France/UK with a heavy focus on chivalry and doing their petty stuff while the Empire fight Chaos (everything east is chaos basically).

What are you basing these gameplay choices off of? No official information has been released by Mythic yet of how the game will run, except for the RvR and several other things relating to that.
As a PvE faction, it still hasn't been said whether or not there will be any PvE factions. If you look at Paul Barnetts February Video Logs though, he talks about a Vampire Counts tower, whos width is larger than that of most starting towns. All of the races that have been listed are just the playable races, and are not the only races in the game.
And I said that Empire was like Brettonia in the "Physical Sense". I did not say that their background or design was alike, but they're both human. An analogy would be, quite literally, comparing england and france. They both consist of a majority of White people that are humans, but their history is much different.
My point of that was there is no diversity to the average person picking up the game, but there is a huge diversity to that of Orcs and Empire.

Well..... As I can see by your Bio/Sig that you've played/beta'd enough games to know that this early in the dev cycle who knows? That's a bit of a sweeping statement.
But as I've always said "He who laughs last, probably didn't get it"
I agree with you about chaos being "united" which I don't think they're united as much as a simple, All of the followers of Chaos in this game will be followers of Tzeentch, and the other Chaos Gods will not be a player YET!
Although Slightly disappointed, I am a Tzeentch fan, so therefore I wasn't that disappointed save the diversity issue which is what I get is the main issue from this thread.
AND, although I disagree with what you say about the high elves being cuppled with a race that isn't good.....(this is because although they aren't "lawful good" as you have stated in a seperate post. They are a "good" race. The elves have had a standing alliance with the Empire since the days of Sigmar.) I do tend to agree that I wish they didn't have realms with so many races in them. In my opinion each race should have it's own realm, along with Alliance based lands for united factional Control. This I say mostly because the High Elves would not fight alongside the Dwarves, unless it was against Choas. Even if both races had a problem with the Dark Elves, or the Orcs, they would be more likely to fight for thier own agendas than to join and fight side by side with some allied central command. The Empire however would fight with either race, and although both of the other two races are stand-offish against any other races, including Empire. They would fight beside them against the greater evil.
Since we don't know what the storyline is in this game, it can easily be written that the chaos are invading which is causing the Elves and Dwarves to take up their old alliances against the invading Chaos, and stand together against them along side the Empire.
Don't say it can't happen, because it just did! During last years...(maybe it was year before last, sorry not sure) Campaign, the High Elves used their Sea Guard to guard the Empire's ports and coastal strongholds, while the Dwarves guarded the World's Edge mountains. The Empire concentrated on keeping the Chaos from taking the old city of Middenheim. And who is believed to be the re-incarnation of Sigmar lead the fight. His name was Volkmar for those who may be curious. Anyway, Games Workshop can write in any story they want, it's their product, and from what Mythic says, GW's doing most of the background development.
So if you have a problem with the story, or alliances, it's a problem with Games Workshop, not with Mythic.
I understand entirely how you feel, I have had some major problems with my favorite stories/movies recently in some of the things Lucasarts had done with their biggest seller. But I have to live with it.
..............................................................................................................................................
Oh, and for anyone saying Empire is the same as Brets, I agree with Anofalye, completly different fighting styles, as well as background.
In their defense, I think they're trying to say they're still humans, and in all reality Empire has knights, and because they have other options such as guns/cannons etc., it would be somewhat redundant........but not if they did it right.
Personally I wish they'd change everything, Each race with it's own realm, each realm having standing alliances with some other races, and have all of the races out of the world of Warhammer. However, that would place the release date for the game somewhere in 2009 or later. And I think that would be a very bad idea from Mythic's standpoint. They're trying to create a believable Warhammer game, with minimal Cost effectiveness, and still maintain most of the continuity with Games Workshop's creation.
It could be interesting to build a classic 9 factions wheel.
Every faction is allied with it two neigbors only.
But that would not be Warhammer at all! (actually it could work but not a pure 9 wheels, you would have some weird jump and in-between cross)
And no, I still doesn't think that the High Elf/Eldarr can be static ally with the Empire...no way! In a 9 wheel thingy maybe with Brettonia in between, but not closer than that.
Tzenth as a magic user make sense. I am unsure if Nurgles could have been a magic user, since Slaanesh is the less fit for release...and Khorne a total favorite. If Nurgles could wield magic, I would have gone with a Khorne/Nurgles alliance and put the other 2 as NPCs mostly because of Slaanessh and a 18+ rating it imply.
PS: 9...I am a D&D chronic fan...I should have go with 5 or 10...LOL at me.

I still think they should have a system like I have said in a previous post where instead of calling them the three factions or realms, they are called the three classifications such as Chaos, Good (for lack of a better description), and a Outlaw or neutral area containing the "Others". The classifications would have interior factions that have their own lands or areas and can ally or war with one another partly depending on players choices and partly set up and regulated by the dev's. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
For example: The Chaos factions of the Chaos classification can interact with each other in their own realm accordingly, kind of like a miniature version of the main game. They have their own areas and they can war with each other to gain control of certain areas of thier realm for their faction to make it stronger or fight outside the chaos areas and claim lands just for their faction or inside their realm alongside an enemy chaos faction without being allied to them, to repel the invaders even though they are still fighting each other before, after or even during the fight with the invaders. This is more in line with Chaos tendencies.
The Good classification would do the same but would have less frequent fighting amongst their inter-factions, except maybe between elves and dwarves. Also since the empires cities like Nuln are where most of the plots and stories take place, they should not be off limits to other classifications. They should be part of the other factions, inside those classifications, missions. Or maybe they should make certain key towns or settlements in each realm accessible by other realms based on a storyline mission. And they could even make it so you could have inaccessible areas of another realm accessible by completing certain tasks allowing an invading faction to take over that particular area. But to counter a total annihilation of a faction there should be safe indestructible zones you can launch attacks from to get your towns and lands back.
The Others would consist of non-empire, non-chaos factions. Mostly they are just the semi-organized to unorganized evil factions like outlaws, Orcs, Dark elves, evil wizard/necros etc. Since they mostly infest lands rather than control them they should kind of fill in the spaces between the areas controlled by good or chaos factions that each of those realms is trying to conquer and make a part of their own realms. The job of this Others faction members would be to do whatever they want. Really they can enter other realms and cause problems there or they can choose to repel chaos and empire invasions from the footholds they gain on the neutral lands. They should get experience for attacking their outposts and towns they build on the neutral land. Smashing down a castle and then the ruins become occupied with a NPC monster like a bunch of skaven or trolls or something taking control of it and making it a stronghold of sorts for the neutral land.
The neutral land would be a kind of free for all area that anyone can enter but the neutral player should have equal access to the realms the other factions inhabit but instead of taking control of their land they would just cause problems like robbing, killing and pillaging towns or outposts. They would be similar to the other classification though in the fact that whatever race or faction you choose within the realm you are given an area that your faction more or less infests. The orcs have an area where they are dominant as do the dark elves. As for outlaws and necros and other no faction outcast classes, they should have small settlements or hideouts they start out in and work their way to power by venturing into enemy realms and causing problems.
I dont see how they are going to pull off this game while keeping it in line with the dark Warhammer flavor. There are alot of problems with what I just described but I would hate to have each of these races/factions just clumped together DAoC style, fighting their enemy realms for pointless temporary victories or control of meaningless lands whose sole purpose is to strengthen your realm with special bonuses but is uninhabitable by npc characters and monsters. I dont think I would even bother to try the game out if they did that.
This is not real coherent but I have been up way to late again
