Mortal Online
-1st person view only
-Aktive hitting and blocking
-swings cost stamina (no swinging all the time)
-striking areas (head, body, left/right arm, left/right leg)
1997 Meridian 59 'til 2019 ESO
Waiting for Camelot Unchained & Pantheon
Its not really a MMO. But for a realistic melee combat i'd go for Warframe. The Damage 2.0 system is really nice.
Other than that i'd say ... vindictus? The rest are subpar.
Maybe TERA. The lancer is pretty fun because you are actually blocking in there, its not a passive trait.
I find combat in even Mount & Blade could use some work to make it feel more "immersive" (whatever that means...).
Some combination of Dark Souls, Mount & Blade and Guild Wars 1 skill design could possible do it for me, I don't know.
MMOs are just plain bad at this.

Vindictus kind of nailed this.
It is a shame that Tera wasn't nearly as good at doing this style of combat.
I also liked Cabal 1's combat system prior to where comboing was pushed aside to special attacks.
Well, I enjoy Wildstar. Yes, I know it's hard to be immersive in a cartoon game, but I'm talking about combat immersion. I honestly believe WS has the best action combat of any mmorpg. WIldstars AI makes it impossible to stand toe to toe with mobs like in most other games. Rolling and dodging to me are more realistic in a fight, and it assists in the fun of the game.
For combat immersion on a more serious real life level, I would have to choose ESO. Using the mouse to swing and block, along with normal action bar skills makes it a top contender. Although the combat is a bit more clunky than WS, and the overall combat mechanics are different, I would put it as my second title.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Mortal Online ............
Without any question
SWG (pre-cu) - AoC (pre-f2p) - PotBS (pre-boarder) - DDO - LotRO (pre-f2p) - STO (pre-f2p) - GnH (beta tester) - SWTOR - Neverwinter
Not sure how to interpret the question here, as in I don't really know what immersive means in the context of video games.
If you mean that your character really looks like it is being hit and can "feel" the combat, then I'd probably go along with Vindictus and Age of Conan. Never played Mortal Online so can't say anything about that.

While not exactly a mmo, it is a GRANDE multiplayer game. It is also the most immersive melee combat oriented game you can play!! EVER!! There is no single game in existence that currently has the gameplay and mechanics of Chilvalry.
A link to the vids.. Game is completely melee BRUTAL!! http://store.steampowered.com/app/219640/
With a huge variety of weapons and gear and many many playstyles. Your character is distinctly yours. With no other player being like you.
Enjoy the trailers.. Enjoy the game even MORE!
marvel heroes?
Because the combat skills capture the look & feel in the movies & comic books?
I kinda challenge this premise...
Immersion is subjective. I could immerse myself in melee combat with a duel of forks.
TSW - AoC - Aion - WOW - EVE - Fallen Earth - Co - Rift - || XNA C# Java Development
I know ima get flamed for this but I felt swtor's melee combat was really well done.
why? it had weight. and your character blocked incoming attacks with their lightsaber. plus the sound effects matched really well with the animations. everything looked like it made an impact. knockback felt solid and it was satisfying to knock people around.
Swtor certainly had great connecting mellee combat on the jedi/sith .... However the mellee moves on the scoundrell and agent felt out of place... But the lightsaber combat certainly felt immersive to me...
and WoWs mellee combat really felt good on the warrior, but other classes are way off, like the mellee shaman that does not really connect..
And then there is lotro, where i can only play the warden class, as it had great mellee combat feeling, very direct and immersive.. However all the other classes felt off to me..
my personall favourite right now is still GW2, it pulls you in when in mellee combat, but not with all weapons abillities. Mellee on certain classes/weapon combos feels way off, in general the more spellcasting is involved in the builds, the further they are off.. I love rogue and warrior most.... I really like how they combine the combat with a great tactical and strategical layer

depends on what immersive means for you
view?
realistic damage / energy expenditure?
realistic skills?
impactful?
active?
for me personaly, variety, feeling for impact and good looking animations is for me important so i'd say guild wars 2... m&b isnt really an mmo in the traditional sense - the combat is really fun tought despite its limitations due to the low budget....
i know a lot of hc mmo players like aoc combat...it wasnt that great for me altough i really liked other aspects of the game...
Fun is subjective too, but if you word it like the OP ("in your opinion") then you can still ask people what game they consider most fun.

Age Of Conan
Hands down, one of the few with multi directional melee combat & combo system in an mmo, all others either fall short into 1 button smashers or the tried & tested tab targeting.
Even Wildstar with its much hyped "leet" skills required is nothing more than a 1 button bore, the telegraph system highlighting when/where you should be eliminates any real skill required.
ESO - Targeting plus control over the power of your basic attacks all synced to the animations. This leads to every swing feeling different.
Age of Wushu - Feels just like a kung fu movie.
Vindictus. Leaves everything else behind in dust with regards to combat.
Age of Conan is kinda nice, too, but far from it. TERA is really bad compared to it.
Blade & Soul if you want kung-fu fighting, but it can't hold a candle to Vindictus.
Non-MMOs, maybe try Blade Symphony?
I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high
And then I'll rise with the tide with a lust for life, I'll
Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde
And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore
Ya, I'm not really sure if he's talking about a single charge and stun or a leap/closer skill. GW2 Leap.
