Guild Wars 2: Mesmers to Get Shields in Heart of Thorns

The Guild Wars 2 Facebook page has been updated with a beautiful new image of a Mesmer using a shield. Just further confirmation that the Profession will be getting the Shield as its new weapon in Heart of Thorns.

    Yes. they said it already and the CG for heart of thorns trailer has a mesmer with a shield (1:28):

     

    now: GW2 (11 80s).
    Dark Souls 2.
    future: Mount&Blade 2 BannerLord.

    The interesting part is the clockwork gears inside of the shield. Possible hint at the elite specialization for the mesmer? Chronomancer keeps getting tossed around on the official forums. A time based caster would be pretty slick.

    mesmer is a really interesting class, i just hate these theatrical costumes

    Not at all unlikely, the class was planned for Guildwars: Utopia after all. :)

    u dont know that...could be shield main hand, could be main and off hand, could be offhand but change other mainhand skills...

    It's a lot more than just 2 skills on the skill bar.  New traits, new ways of playing the class, think more role based a la heals, tank etc.  More skill based customizability, basically.  Unless you are just hating on the game as per usual disgruntled gamers these days and in that case, just go away, lol.

    yeah the theater theme might not appeal to everyone but i learned to like it from Guild Wars 1 with Lady Althea. I love my Mesmer.

    (Office Space Meme) Mm yeah, I'm going to have to ask you to talk less about other classes and talk more about Engineers, yeah that'd be great! (Engineers being the most nerfed and discombobilated class in the game in PVE that is.)
