[Column] General: WoW Patch 6.2 Preview

When the features were announced for Patch 6.1 many players were quick to call out the lack of new content. While 6.1 included many updates including the new Heirloom collection system, it offered little in the way of new playable content to explore. Patch 6.2 has recently hit the public test realm and man does it make up for what 6.1 was thin on. Let’s look at some of the major new features that are on the way.

"Heck you could even claim the movie is turning out better than expected and Universal wants to kick off their summer schedule with a bang."

According to the director, that's right.

I think that's some good news, on the movie front. June shows confidence, as Eldryth says!

Adventure journal - great,  another "quality of live improvement" that makes meta layer even bigger.

According to Blizz the problem with the game is not old players leaving (that always is the case with every single game), they said they have problem with keeping new players after they try the game. And yet Blizz dont want to create more immersive world but instead places teleports and big letter signs where to go to make the expirience more streamlined (yeah thats the opposite of immersive).

Last I played I felt like the game constantly pushed me to compete against time to make thing faster and more effecient. Many years ago when i started WoW i have done so for the exact opposite - to "live" in a dream world.

If I remember correctly they arent doing a cinematic movie, its a Live action version .... Disappointing as all hell but ah well... I am an anime Otaku and I have tried watching dozens of series dubbed in English and have cringed at the horrible voice acting American actors do.... emotionless acting is normal so I am repressively supporting the live action version...

The film will probably be bad. The patch however, shows lots of promise.

And we can ply the game for free now, so yeah. I think one could justify not playing the game because of the added subscription, but now since the game is essentially free for almost any guy that bought it...

Adventure journal looks like a step in the right direction for returning players.

Honestly, the patch seems quite bare to me. Lot of rehashing old content (timewalker and "mythic" dungeons, none of which offer any new mechanics just basically stat adjustments), Shipyard (glorified follower mission but with some light customization), a zone (which can be decent entertainment, would need to see), and a raid. Its quite pitiful if you are considering the lack of anything during 6.1 they didn't really do much to make up for it. Seems bare minimum personally to me for a big patch, never mind one after a patch that brought practically nothing.

I like how everyone ignores the new content that Blizz is putting hard work into, and are busy nagging about the class changes. Side note, great job Blizz. I'm actually excited for this patch.

I left just before WoD to spend more time in EVE. I'll probably go back at some point and been watching the patches to see if it grabs me. Couple interesting things here but don't feel like it's gonna pull me back yet.
