I have enjoyed Defiance since the very beginning, but it hasn’t always been a smooth road of development. Trion Worlds still shows the game love, but do they concentrate too much on content that segments players away from the rest of the open world?

The game really needs a player market.
Having to spam chat (you can't up-arrow, or anything to repeat your chat) by typing over and over your WTT/WTB or using the forums to try and meet up with someone in-game is just stupid.
Regarding the social section: Some people don't know that some/many of the vehicles can hold another person. There is an EGO pursuit that requires going for a ride.

I got it despite not being a huge fps fan.
It's a fun game with a decent story.
My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

This game had potential- but fell short on story missions after main story. And dlc were roo far in between- something wildstar is struggling with now as well.

Yes!
The best thing about Defiance was the open world where roaming doing multiple things, with Alcatraz they killed the open world and put that grindfest of incursions.
If players want instanced missions the best game will ever be Warframe,Defiance should have keep staying on the open world.
Worst investment I've ever made. I live with that regret every day of my now tainted life.
The UI still had huge challenges the last time I played. The PvP always felt waaaayy too unbalanced.
I enjoyed it as a side game with a couple friends, but I feel like each of the ratings above were all at least 1 point too high. I might give it a 6.5.
I hear you man.
I loved this game to pieces up until the keycode nerf, when most of the events became pointless.
The game is still fun, but I just don't feel like it's worth the time investment anymore.
Trion nerfed keycodes to push people into buying lockboxes on the shop, the events become even more useless with Alcatraz because the best loot now comes from incursions and of course to get into them you must pay.
Without a real update this game will close before reaching another year of life, this will be also the last season of the show.
I still think the 1-10 review system is silly. Doubly so when you start throwing in decimals. Its like an attempt to rank games down to a micro-explanation of which is better. Even if MMO's weren't updated constantly making this attempt dumb, that would still take extremely skilled self analysis for a reviewer to gauge what they liked more down to fractions of a point when they are playing in a sea of MMO's.
The one to five scale is best when coupled with a review. It gives you an idea of if it is good or not and then you can look at the review for the fine points. Its what Roger Ebert believed was best for films and I think it works best for games as well. 1) not worth the time 2)maybe a good quality or two 3)Not perfect but a fun experience 4)people will enjoy it. 5)hands-down fantastic games.
What the heck is a 7.8 even supposed to mean? Even further, how does it connect with the breakdown? Sound gets a 7 alongside visuals? What an arbitrary combination, sound and visuals.
I'll be honest (sometimes :P) :
. I didn't really want to test this game. I had some free time for a week-end and an mmorpg.com post gave me the idea to test... why not, I don't like F2P games but it's an mmo shooter... I liked many games with similar gameplay so... why not !.I played for hours and I LIKED IT ! I decided to spend some money for the season pass and I don't regret.
Why ? The game is perfect if you have some problems to get a lot of free time to play because you could do some missions VERY FAST then disconnect.
But I need to explain the biggest bad points to me :
. we are easily lost with all the various currencies, DLC, packs... (I spent for the seasons pass and I need to buy a pack to expand my inventory ? 0.o wtf ?!)
.no real marketplace... but as what I know (after 2 weeks only, caution) you could play with everything in your hands :P
