That seems possible, yes. W8 sucks.

But it might be either a hardware issue (maybe heat?) or your graphics drivers.

My advice to you is: Get the latest drivers, clean your computer with a cleaner (like YAC) and if that doesn't help, check windows error log to figure out the problem.

It is very unlikely the game is the culprit unless you have some really weird and rare hardware it ain't optimized for (which is pretty unlikely by now, in the betaor alpha it might have been different though).

Same Win8.1 on my new computer but my old computer has Win7 and it isnt working on that one either.

I've downloaded the latest drivers for my HD 7750 and its running cool as a whistle.

I've run 2 virus scans but I have not checked the error log. I'll definitely try that, thank you.

    My hardware is:

    i5-4690k

    Asus H97

    4gigs of G.Skill DDR3 Mem

    1T HD

    & HD 7750

Since the vast majority, myself included have no trouble logging in and playing, the problem is probably at your end.  Silly to condemn a game as unplayable by the majority because of the problem of the few.

I'm not condemning it as unplayable to anyone but myself and others that have the same issue. Just because everyone isnt experiencing the issue doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

Restarted on the b2p conversion date, haven't dc'ed once.

If the game is not running from 2 separate computers in the same house, i would think there is a problem between your isp  and the eso servers somewhere. Seems odd that 2 separate computers with different OS would have the same problem otherwise.

Good luck I know that stuff can be frustrating image

There was an article recently on RPS about someone trying to get GTA5 to work on his system.  It was totally no-go until he figured out the issue was  an obscure font manager installed on his system.  That's how nebulous these problems can be.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

you could do a windows file check.

It will tell you if you have any corrupt windows files..

Be aware it takes significant time on windows 8.1...... ...... .....

    go to command prompt window.

    type   sfc /scannow

find a book to read or go do some chores......  it  is definitely slow...

I have a life, its just different from yours.....

Since you are experiencing the same issues on both pcs my first concern would be the connection.

    Who's your ISP?

Are you using a router or firewall of any sort?

It's almost definitely a problem on your end.

I have gamed with people who played more than me and were totally dumb founded to everything that went on in game.

it could be any number of reasons,i would say the simple answer is ,talk to customer support.

Also beware of games that utilize YOUR bandwidth and perhaps IP's that are throttling bandwidth. Also the obvious that  certain programs such as anti virus can cause problems with  certain games but not others.

I would beware of ANY game i see Pando booster being installed or anything like that.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I agree that a problem probably exists.  However, when you title your thread 'ESO is UNPLAYABLE,'  it has a definite ring of inflammatory content, implying much more.

My ISP is Comcast. Terrible company but the connection is great xD

Yes, I have a router and firewall. My Win8 computer, which I'm using now is connected through wifi, the win7 comp is connected directly to the router.

On your router, are you using stock firmware?  or modified?

    What kind of firewall?

Have you spoken to them? I know what the issue is, but I'm not going to say, so I save you from continuing to play a very poorly made game.

This does NOT seem a trivial issue that you can just fix with some tweak. Please see the following:

    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/155019/game-keeps-crashing-edit-seems-fixed

---> This dude managed to fix by formatting his HD, installing 64bit windows, and installing new ram.

    http://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/2zwukp/whats_with_the_random_crashes_since_esotus_release/

---> Consider asking customer support about the tool that dumps debug info, then give the output to them.

Otherwise, you may just have to wait for a patch from ZOS.

    1. Running the game in windowed mode

    2. Tweaking .ini files

    3. Uninstalling/Reinstalling (on a new and old pc)

    4. Disabling Addons

    5. Running the built in repair

    6. Deleting files

    6. Running the game and launcher in administrator and compatibility mode

    7. Lowering all graphics settings

    8. Using a wifi and cable connection

    9. Making sure the game is an exception to my firewall

    10. Checked for memory spikes or problems (none)

    11. Checked if my hardware was running hot (nope)

    12. Restarted my modem and checked for high latency, etc

And there are plenty of other things that I cant remember and any possible solution Zenimax has offered I have tried and it has done nothing for me. So ... I dont really know whats left to do ... any ideas? I was playing the game fine up until I wrote that review, then an update/patch was released and I start experiencing problems.

This is all very frustrating :(

like i have said a couple of times now, try a tunneling service to take a different route to the game server, i'd almost put money on the fact it's probably a bad node between you and the game.

i seem to remember comcast users having big issues connecting / staying connected to / lagging like all hell on FFXIV when it first launched as i was playing with friends who used the service and they had to VPN / Tunnel ( WTFast / battleping etc...) to the game to get it to run normally... there was a problem between their computers and FFXIV servers that only routing around it away from the comcast route fixed.. again probably a bad node....

Try a VPN or tunneling service and see what happens.. a lot of them offer free trials

So why has my opinion changed so quickly? Shortly after making that post I started getting kicked from the game occasionally. I didnt really care then because I attributed to screwing up an update. During this time I was also building a new pc so I assumed whatever error I created would be resolved once I installed the game on a 100% new pc.

    WRONG WRONG WRONG.

I installed the game on my new pc and ever 5mins I'm getting booted to the login screen. I've done EVERYTHING I can think of to fix this problem and got nowhere. I've spent weeks trying to get this game to work following any and every internet post I can find and nothing has solved it. I visited the ESO forums and surprise, I'm not the only one this is happening too and no answer has been found.

Ultimately, what I'm trying to say is: if you're thinking about buying this game ... dont. There's always the chance you wont have this problem but I would like to save someone the constant distress of spending $60 on something that doesnt work.

    So in short:

because of a crappy computer/connection from your end and you being the only one in the whole world that gets booted from TESO people who would have no problems with the game whatsoever should stop getting/playing this game?

There ARE Players having problems with ESO. Check the ESO PC Tech support forum section of official forums.

OP is not the only one having problems. This week's patch did my client in and now the download is stalling and I have a very good connection to the servers. Not sure what the issue is but at the slow speed my d/l is going it will be next week before it finishes. The ESO Launcher has several issues and they are long term and known... I wish I had done more research before I bought the game.

The game itself is great. Been loving it... but the problems I have been having with the Launcher make me want to ask for a refund.... but I am going to wait before I do that. All MMOs can have troubles, ESO Devs just need to get them fixed.

And also I noticed this... it sure does seem to me that some of the responses in this thread are obvious Shills.... tell your Masters to fix the Launcher already. That would be loads more help than denying ESO has problems.

Boy are you in for trouble with the fanboys that think the game is perfect. They will always blame it on your end and nothing is wrong with this game. I stopped playing it for all kinds of glitches that i and many others are having and we are all told its our fault and not the game. Even if no other game runs as bad as ESO does.

My wife and I started having issues out of no where a few weeks ago.  After getting kicked for 3 weeks I started working on it and seem to have found the fix.  We're running windows 7 and we ran the launcher and the executable both as admin and in compatibility mode for XP SP3.

Surprisingly this fixed the problem and this was something that was never needed in the past.  Something in a recent update caused this and it was messing with our network connection.  After a crash I couldn't even load a browser page without restarting.

    Also Comcast.

Try playing with your pc directly connected to your modem (take your router out of the equation).  Also, turn off your firewall.  See if you notice any changes (also ensure you are using a wired connection).
