The little hope I had left for a better WoW, with patch 1,10 that would introduce casual armor has totally been shattered by the fact that they are going to put TIER 4 gear into a new uber 40 dungeon in 1,11... lmao.
Im not a raider, i'll admit that, but I just feel betrayed because it's like giving the finger. It's impossible to pvp against people Ashkandi who just go insane in uber raid gained epics. I know its their game and they can do what they want, but I think it's clear what path they have taken about their end game -
do long dungeons - get good gear - then do other dungeon to just get a little better gear - rense repeat through the next 5/10 years of expansions and dungeons.
I had really hoped they would have done more for the sake of pvp and nerfed something of the many items that have gotten completely out of hand.
Sorry for the "whine". Just had to come out with my frustration and dissapointment. Good luck to everyone who will continue! Good game none the less and its been fun

I'm not a huge fan of the 40-Raid Instances either. They can be fun, but it would be nice to see more 5 - 10 Raid instances.
I understand the argument from raiders that they should be rewarded for their effort. However, I think Blizzard could design a creative solution. For example, the Hunters Epic Quest. Although you need a raid group to get the starting materials from Molten Core, the remainder of the quest has to be solo'd. I don't see why Blizzard couldn't create similar quests that take time, rather then people, to complete an epic based quest. (btw, killing abazillion 'x' for reputation rewards doesn't count ^_^ )

Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
Dont get me wrong, but you are totally contridicting yourself in the first statment. Core players does not equal masses. Core players and masses are 2 way different things.
To the original poster, get over it, this is Blizzard appealing to all the players. Next up are causuals, then raiders, then ? who knows. Blizzard is adding content for everybody.

Incorrect sir! but thanks for playing. the masses my friend are the large guild groups which there are alot of them - who run Molten Core and Black wing lair and also getting the items for AQ now and also have guild PVP teams so they dont have to have PUG's - those are the masses. most have required playing times so you can get DKP points so you get your epic items etc.. these are the hard core players and the masses and Blizzard knows it.
I agree with Rohn, I'd too speculate that the majority of WoW's playerbase are casuals. Blizzard, as do many other companies, believes that the hardcore players, in this case the assumption is instance raiders, will stay with the game longer.

I recently cancelled my World of Warcraft account, for a game about war between the Alliance and Horde there wasn't much war. Every single aspect of WoW requires you to raid and it's ludicrous as many styles of characters simply aren't desired for raiding. PvP requires you to raid because if you don't have epics you're going to get steamrolled. Even crafting requires you to raid because the end game crafted items (Besides a select few: Lionheart Helm, Stronghold Gauntlets, Belt of the Archmage, the Robe plans from the Tier 0 bosses, Gloves of Spell Mastery and the Shifting Cloak.) require objects that are only available through raiding. I was looking at the items from A'Q before the patch came out and was definately concerned about PvP balance, then I saw about the tier .5 armor and was ecstatic. Then I heard Naxxrammas was immediately coming out in the next patch and it completely broke my heart.
World of Warcraft is a disgusting perversion of the Warcraft world.

Id probably have to agree with Rohn on this one. The masses would seem to be the 75% or more population that hasnt and never will see MC BWl Onyxia. The majority of the people playing=medium to casual player. Thus majority=masses. Could be wrong as always but thats how it looks to me.
Personally Id prefer more 15-20 mans at best.
The new EQ2, better than ever befor !

All I said was core players does not equal masses. The problem is inherent in the definition of terms. Core players implies a minority, where masses equal the majority.
Ya that is why I left, I hate 40 raids. 10-20 on the otherhand is managable and fun. I wuld rather have extremely difficult 10 man raids to get uber epics and 40 man raids (where at least one person screws, you constantly waiting for someone, etc) 40 people is just unrealistic for people with school, jobs, sleep requirements. this is just my opinion and im not downplaying others opinion I just found it frustrating.
No, they didn't screw up "big time"
WoW at its worst is still lightyears ahead of anything $OE produced.
and your observations must be based on your server, mine doesn't have such problems.

So in roughly less than 16 hours your bored? What did that get you up to, 20? If you are already bored and havent even played 99% of what the game has to offer,,,,its time to quit. No replay value? Tell that to the other 4 mill active subs . Also I played SWG....character creation was one of the bright points of that game amongst the bugs and exploits.
Anyway if you only got that far into the game..dont waste your time--you obviously dont like it. I know I wouldnt.

Just curious
tee hee
Just another handsome boy graduate...
yeah 40 raid instances are well... takes too much organisation id rather 5-10 instances
I personally cant stand raids anyway. Any kind of raids. I still remember my days in EQ2 where I literally sat on the docks in Nektulos trying to get a raid together to fight Torig so I could do a stupid quest for a loser sword. Took me a month to get a raid group formed for that one.
Its poor developer planning IMO. All a raid does is create a time sink. Time wasted trying to get one together. Time wasted trying to get everyone on the same page. Time wasted as people come and go.
I always preached for alternatives to raid content. Take the above example to go after Ghoulbane. Instead of forcing people to do a raid allow an alternative as well. "Go kill these four named undead -OR- go kill 1,000 generic undead of equal or higher level."

The key to raiding is finding a group of players/friends to consistently play with.
My clan's WoW NA section is one of the largest in our 1k+ member clan.
We have scheduled raiding events and rules already pre planned and it's not that big of a hassle to organize a raid.
I'm not advertising our clan, but I'm advertising that clans are the best way possibly to do raiding events. Since you are always playing with familiar people and know what to expect from the raid.
