Need Help Finding New Game!

TauskeTauske Member Posts: 4

Alright so here is my Situation:

I'd played Tibia (super old MMO, got full of Botters and ruined to shit) from like 2003 - 2010~.  Never botted and just farmed my ass off. Eventually the Botting and getting hunted by cheaters for no reason got old so I moved on.

Played RIft for about a Solid Year, loved the game, left it due to a new Job, didn't have time to actively raid anymore. Haven't played it in about 1.5 years. Maybe a little Longer.

I've been actively playing Diablo 3 since few months after it's release and then continue'd to play it even harder after the Expansion came out. (Over all I think I'm 2.3k hours invested in this) Well as of recently I'm finally starting to get bored of it.

Well with playing nothing but these few games the Last Several Years I have no Idea as to whats new and good?

---Tibia: I loved the Grind, infinite Levels, and nothing came easy in this game, was purely a time investment where Gear came from that. (Did not have raiding to get gear)

(EDIT)--- Requiem: I Also played Requiem:Mommento Morri, for about a solid Year, or a little Longer around 2009-2010, I loved the Time Investment in this game, originally everything took a long time to progress and nothing was Quick, I was eventually Driven Away from the game around the first Level Increasing Expansions which made all my gear worthless, and considering it's a Heavy Cash-Shop game I wasn't willing to Re-Invest that shit ton of Money back into the game.

---Rift: This game had everything, Reputation farming was important, Dungeons were important, Raids were important, and it had Open World PvP (not anymore, only people who played it before expansion would have experienced this), and it had Arena PvP.  I'm not normally big on PvP, but occasionally dropping into Battlegrounds for fun.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: This game had the Best and most Amazing Skill tree for making builds I have never seen. It wasn't entirely overwhelming after you learned how it worked but it wasn't super crap in turns of Todays WoW builds. (Yeah I went there, WoW class building is the worst out in my opinion right now)

--- Diablo 3: This game has been purely a time investment, you play to farm for better items to get further, no raiding and very little relying on other people, with this game there was always, and I mean always something better to be farming for, so it was a contant never ending game, but you can only farm for so long, and evidently for me that's 2.3k hours before I need a break. Lol.

So based off my Super Short List of Games played, anyone have recomendations?

Also no, not World of Warcraft, I played it in Vanilla, and I played it very little in MOP and I have seen the new Expansion, the game looks and plays horrid, and it has always been a Chore for me to play, never enjoying myself and every time I am on it it's not cause I want to be, but simply cause I paid the Subscription and Felt I might as well force myself onto it.

Edit: I've been looking at ArcheAge a bit, anyone have any input on that? Whats some Strong Points, how is end game, and also would it be recommended obviously? Another big thing about it I'm wondering is is it one of those games where if a new player Joined now rather than when it was new, is it possible for them to ever be "Caught up", or will they always be behind due to passive time things or anything?

Thanks,

~Tauske

You can try SWTOR if you want.

I've actually tried SWTOR before, didn't care for it much.

One game I've been looking at a bit is ArcheAge, anyone have any input on that?

(Also going to post this to original MSG)

If you like farming and grinding as one part of gameplay, then Archeage could be for you, but i don't have much experience with that game. Older game such as Lineage II perhaps?

Otherwise I can recommend something entirely different, Dark Souls games. There you can play with/without farming and it is rather challenging (note: controller is a must). Of course there is no "raid", other than brief online co-op.

As the current MMO stands, having played for 10 years myself that genre, I happily turned my back to it with current generation non-MMO games, everything from GTA V, Batman, Dark Souls, etc.

Pretty soon comes Witcher 3 - that will keep me occupied for a while :D

I've had more than my Fill of the Dark Souls games, Lol.

I actually Speed Ran Dark Souls 1 for a while. (Best time was only ever 58:00~, all bosses no glitches before DLC)

(Had well over 1k hours into this game, and a lvl 50 invader with cap souls from only invading infront of the 4 Kings Boss, was Favorite place in the game, even used the gear to look like the Enemies there, I Protected My Kings!)

And Dark Souls 2 I simply Beat a few times and was done with it.

I've not MMO'd in what feels a long time, so I'm specifically looking to get back into that mess, though I do occasionally pop up some random Games (Dark Souls, MKX, GTA) but I've always been heavy into the long Term Games which none of these ever have been for me, they're more or less small amusements with friends, nothing I can take seriously.

    Thanks for the Input though!

Why not Path of Exile since you enjoy Diablo 3 so much?

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

    Agree with Path of Exile.

Would be worth a look at regardless.

Based on what I have read about Archeage it may be something you like as well.

I think only Rift fills that criteria. But as others said you could try ArcheAge. But warning... for some player eyes is a pay2win, and after certain level is open PvP.

Sorry if I made a Unclear choice of words here, I don't mind Subscriptions, I would gladly play one for a game I like, my point about WoW Subscriptions is that game is like a Chore and I never enjoyed being on it, I was only on it cause I had already paid for it and felt I should be on it.

That was just my suggestion. Maybe Marvel Heroes as well?

    Definitely. :)

I didn't mention it earlier since I'm still a newb in it and forming an opinion on that one. (So far it's positive. :D)
