Mount and Blade like MMORTS - Empyrean Rule

Hi, I found an interesting staff pick on kickstarter. They are in the process of getting green lit through steam and are doing a kickstarter. From what I've gathered from all of it, it seems like the mount and blade single player campaign where you roam the world, fighting, looting, conquering, recruiting and trading except the combat is done by commanding armies in Real Time rather than FPS combat and that the world is online meaning that you will be fighting against other humans aswell as AI. Anyway I just backed this and want to see it get over the line so I thought I'd let people here know about it.

So... It's totally like this First person game where you control a solider and roam around conquoring things personally. Except it's nothing like that at all because it's played as a overhead troop management RTS game.

Yeah... Thanks for that enlightening explanation.

To find an intelligent person in a PUG is not that rare, but to find a PUG made up of "all" intelligent people is one of the rarest phenomenons in the known universe.

I likened the map roaming and party actions to mount and blade not the combat. You know how you raise your party on map, pick fights on map and then the battles are instanced? I don't see how that is confusing.

Sorry, was having a bad day yesterday when I posted that. I get what your trying to say now. I do think other games are a far better reference for what your mentioning though. I mean civilization has the same system, so does most turn based rts games like might and magic.

Still, I get what you meant.

No problem but I don't think you understand still. Civilization and Might and Magic do not have the same system. The roaming on the map is in real time not turn based. It's like mount and blade where you have a party and you move around recruiting people, going from city to city trading goods and fighting (which unlike Mount and Blade is then instanced into total war like combat).

You can conquer cities but that is done how it is in mount and blade, by recruiting on the map side of the game and then going into instanced combat/siege. As far as I understand it, you don't have to have control of a city to recruit which is like mount and blade and unlike civilization and heroes of might and magic (with some minor exceptions in Might and Magic)

PS. There is no such thing as a turn based RTS ;) It's a pet hate of mine, there are Turn Based Strategy (TBS) and Real Time (as in not turns) Strategy (RTS). The only type of game that justifies being called a turn based real time strategy would be total war like games because they are hybrids that use both systems for differing parts of the game. Anyway I've seen many people call civilization and the like RTS but it's more misleading than calling a lobby based multiplayer game an MMORPG as the definitions of TBS and RTS are all about how time is handled, they were made to make the distinction between two very different types of strategy games. Anyway I digress.
