there is an great unoffical faq at http://horizonsvault.ign.com/ where some fans gathered tons of answers together from interviews and so on.

I am currently at work and such sites are firewall blocked sadly here ;( I can give some answers but am not 100% sure all is correct since I can not verify atm.

first question : is there a level cap?

Yes I believe so but I am not sure though.

second: is there a skill cap?

In Horizon everyone can learn everthing but due the skills not being cap noone can be exceptional in everthing at least as far I understand it.

third: Am I alow to learn any skills any spells I want to?

Yes. As far I know there are Humanoid skills and dragon skills nearly all skills will be humanoid. And as an humanoid you can switch to any humanoid class and retain old skill(levels) but of course your base attributtes still influence the skills effectivness but this does not stop you from learning them.

fourth: on the solo side, can I solo a monster a little higher level then myself?

Not sure but it was stated there is no force grouping policy which should mean you can do meaningfull stuff solo.

---Edit: I just read http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/457/457158p1.html it seems theyr saldy changed mind going force goup policy *sniff* I'll give it Horizon a try but I am quite sure I can't live with force grouping not much left on the table for me then...

fifth: image I heard that boss guarding treasure. Just wonder can those treasure be solo:)?

Sorry dunno anything on this one.

hoped that help plz if anyone knows better correct me thx

read the artikel of the beta tester mike: at  http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/457/457158p1.html

Quote mike : It is clear that future hunts will require grouping in order to survive. This will make hunting and adventuring a group activity, while crafting will be for the more solo-minded.

I believe that you will be able to solo in the game, it will just be harder to do it yourself. It is always easier to group in a game. I guess we will have to wait and see when the game is released.

rofl that brings it on to point but I like planning/designing my char for me it is as much fun doing this as playing the RPG. I simply love to work out concept's I believe to do well and see how things work out and see where I did mistakes and anaylse why I did them.

According to the FAQ there won't be a level cap

Will there be enough content for higher level characters?
They will have a large amount of content at launch not sure exactly what the highest level of content will be from an adventure standpoint , they are still tweaking that in beta, but they do have an open ended advancement system there is no level cap. So as they continue to add content players will be able to continuously advance their character, add with that the ability to progress in multiple schools and eventually join prestige schools there is a lot a player will be able to do in Horizons. And for those extremely aggressive power gamers we have some extremely unique high end targets that we aren't talking about, this will be up to the players to find (*cough* unlock subjugated races is one example *cough*). Also the wide variety of community building that is available should definitely keep players hard at work trying to create their very own Camelot castle city.

I found this in the FAQ too, it shows what the abilities are.

Strength relates to physical prowess (damage dealing as an example)
Dexterity is the attribute of physical movement (chance of evading for example)
Power relates to the magical strength; the ability to create scope of magic.
Focus is the magical ability of expressing your magical will against an opponent.
Health determines how much damage you can take before falling over.

I think they do have foraging as part of the game, probably tied to the crafting system. And I'm not convinced that they'll "force" group play, i think it's an option but probably won't be necessary. Not sure about caps, but i do know that you can switch classes whenever you want and won't have to start a new char in order to do that.

ok can weps and armor break or deteriate?

  • MithrasMithras Member Posts: 43

Not sure how they would force group play myself, but seeing as how many people enjoy doing things solo it wouldn't be the greatest idea in the world.  A lot of the games I've played I've been in a guild, but I've done my own thing helping the group out while I'm getting my xp and treasure solo.

Anyone have any idea how powerful a dragon character can get, and once a dragon character gets to a mature age, could a humanoid player even compare to one of them?  It would kind of disappoint me to have one race so powerful that it counterbalances any other race.

  • redtigerredtiger Member Posts: 124
I think they've taken race balances into account for this. Not sure what the specifics are, but i don't think it'll be that off balance with maturity. The one thing i do know is that the dragon characters are going to be able to fly pnce you reach a certain maturity level. I imagine the other races will probably have similar feats at higher levels too.

Dragons are supposed to age with your in game hours, so the longer you play the character the more mature it will be come and henace more powerful.  The key word here is PLAY.. Dragon's actually only age for the time you play that dragon in game.

I.E. You can create a dragon character on launch and not play it for six months and it will not age a day.

OK, In answer to a couple of questions and also to clear up a couple of erroneous answers:

    1. At this time in beta, weapons and armor do not deteriorate but that may change anytime before or after the game's release. There has been some debate about it because people are questioning what will happen as the world ages and more weapons and armor are available. Some fear that the world will become saturated with items and the need for crafters will diminish. At any rate, this issue is being examined and may change.

    2. Dragons start out slightly weaker than most classes/races in the game but get much more powerful in later levels. It has been conjectured that many people may even give up on getting a dragon high because of the challenges involved.

    3. There are several requirements to become a mature adult dragon - 60 days, Rite of Passage quest, and other things. The 60 days is real time, not in-game time. You can theoretically create a dragon and not log it back in for 60 days and you have THAT requirement met, but you have the other requirements that will take you a long time to achieve, so it's not practical to create a dragon and leave it alone for 60 days.

    4. Group play will not be forced at all. In fact, every race/class is possible to solo to high levels, although it will be more difficult for some races/classes than others. It will also be very difficult to solo higher mobs later in the game.

This information comes from the NDA Press Release answers at Horizons Warcry and is accurate to my knowledge.

I will try to answer any other questions also. I have been vigorously scanning the boards looking for these answers myself.

According to the press (now that the NDA has been lifted for them) your dragon will age based on when it was created and not by game time. When asked how long it takes for a dragon to reach adult age?

"60 real days if you are logged on or off. "
