I hadnt seen WOW until about two months after the first CU. My buddy bought it... so im sitting there watching him play it and i start seeing zipbars, move timers, an exact copy of the CU1 combat toolbar, and dudes running around with cloak etc. etc.

And not only that my SWG version of WOW was like a half assed attempt at best when compared to WOW's fully funtioning core systems (maybe not perfect but very stable core game). I was/am still pi$$ed about that.

But its definlty safe to say everyone involed with SWG decisions plays a little WOW

Smedley and Torres are taking an awful risk publically admitting they play WoW...

They are in charge of games for a competitor. Blizzard could sue SOE into the dust for stealing things from WoW if anything appears in any of their games that even remotely resembles a WoW mechanic/idea, and the fact that there are press admissions by senior producers at SOE that they play WoW would almost guarantee them a strong case...

The fact that they admit such things is stupid.

There is not strong case. Game companies steal game mechanics all the time. And there are very few, if any of large companies sueing another large company because they use a similar user interface, or math calculation. And most of these game mechanics and user interfaces can find prior art in earlier games.

Using a mouse, monitor on an angle and just look at the toolbar...oh yeah, this is an avid player . Even as a press shot, it shows that that person has no real clue about the game.

Cmon Teala, don't diss EQ2, it so rocks! Have you played it lately? Really, I don't care what you say about smed or SOE or anything else related to sony, but EQ2 doesn't deserve it. The game is so fun, is so wonderful to look at and has an amazing community. It's a different group of people working on it than SWG and they are doing amazing things. It's so much better than WoW it's not even funny, and I'm not being biased. I have played both extensively and EQ2 is just deeper and more meaningful.

What do you mean by it's deeper and more meaningful? Honestly, I didn't play EQ or EQ2 although I have seen them played but only a few minutes worth. I'm asking you a serious, no flames, question. I absolutely can't stand SOE for what they did to SWG and I honestly couldn't see me ever playing their games, but I'm interested in your statement. What makes EQ2 fun for you? Wow, you guys will latch on to anything won't you. Well just so you know, Blizzrad devs have admitted to playing the competions games too, guss that means WoW sucks. Brad McQuaid has admited to playing EQ2 and WoW, guess that means Vanguard sucks. NCSoft has admitted to playing WoW, guess Lineage I and II and CoH/V suck too. Damn there must not be a good MMO on the market.

He's just some crazy fanboy that thinks boring is deep, pointless quests are meaningful and generic/plastic and dull is amazing to look at

If you didn't like EQ2 at launch you wont like it now.

My problem is they dont really play there own games because any swg vetern worth a salt wouldn't have done the nge. Which means they don't play there own games. I doubt 1 developer was/is a trader or entertainer.

Yeah, must be a major pain for the former leaders of the market to be forced to see how a game should be made, by an unexperienced on the matter team. Way to go Blizzard, you made SOE envy.

I'm just another former veteran currently playing WOW, since launch and still loving it.

Haxx I absolutely see your point. I don't understand how anyone could like this idioic game they've created, but just because we don't understand it, doesn't mean it ain't so. On the forums there are people that have played since release that LIKE the NGE. Believe me, I'm as confused as you, but they're there I've seen the posts. Hell Wepps is defending this game (and no I don't believe the conspiarcy theory that he's being paid).

The game is crap, I won't argue that at all. What I find totally moronic is the way people take whatever is said and use it to bash a company. Sure everyone else in every other company on the planet said the same thing, but because this one company said it, it's the most dispicable thing ever said.

Then you have the morons that think Smeadly woke up one day and said: "You know what? Screw LucasArts I'm not giong to listen to them anymore, and I'm just going to change SWG for the hell of it." Pitiful, it makes me wonder how many of sit in front of you computers singing "If I only had a brain".

I didn't like it in beta at all, absolutely hated it in fact, but i got a free account off fileplanet 6 days ago and now i love it. Explain that :P
