New game to play asap... gw2, aion

ogbunigweogbunigwe Member Posts: 6
I am losing my mind, truly.
I used to play AION North America, reached lvl 54, started at pvp only to realise the ping affected much more the players then the NPC's, which was a huge let down.
I also got guild wars 2, when i played the pvp was very very simple, got boring very quickly, no evolution, no end game etc, i wonder if anyone who plays this, can tell me if it has changed.
I tried Tera, it was very boring, always alone, feels very grindy.
Also, heard about archeage, but something about not being really f2p because of 'patron system'
That aside, i need a good game, preferably f2p with cosmetic like aion, if not, something like GW2, one time payment.
I like to PVP more than PVE, don't know what else to say.

Thank you for reading

    Echo Of Soul

Once you reach level 10 which only takes about an hour you don't have to touch pve anymore. You can level up from doing nothing but PVP.

It appears i need to apply the beta key before i start playing... which i don't have.

Visually, Cabal 2 is similar to Aion. If you want PvP, Echo of Soul is the choice.

I would not recommend Echo of Soul - it's a horribly generic WoW clone with no innovation, no depth, and no soul (How ironic). Listen to TheHiveLeader's impressions of it.

ESO is a great MMO, honestly one of the best out right now. It's B2P and you can find it on G2A for like 20-30 bucks.

I have been doing some research on ESO, it seems pvp is very much like GW2, no evolution

Also, for someone who never played a Wow-type of game, would you recommend?

Don't waste your money on Elder Scrolls. Its nothing like Skyrim and is so boring with nothing but fed ex questing and no real pvp. The game failed a few months after release and had to drop its subscription model so how is that a great mmo? image

Right now with the 12x xp you can just play the story mode as well, which is the best part of the game imo. You have to sub to do it, but worth it.

I disagree, I've been playing ESO since before it launched as a daily player and I'm having lots of fun in PvP still.  Before ESO I played GW2 mainly in WvW or sPvP.  Before GW2 I played Aion and was addicted to dredgion instances.

In the next couple of months ( they haven't announced exactly when ) there will be a PvEvP area added to Cyrodiil so that should expand PvP opportunities more.  That area is called Imperial City so you might want to check out ESO when that's added to the game :)

    Kinda true...

That aside, i just tried a used echo of soul beta key, surprisingly, the bug still works, so i am already playing echo of souls, feel pretty good, its very immersive gameplay, reminds me alot of aion, which is good.

So if anyone wanting a key, just get a used one, change language to french and claim.

I am still looking for suggestions, although i think i will be satisfied by this game.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion

You are having fun then good for you but most people did not and quit the game. I was one of the people that played since launch and just got tired of doing the same old same old boring questing and weak combat. Everything they claim to be adding to the game should have been in at launch.

Was that the key I sent you?

Except eso has less fed ex quests than any other mmo out to date, and all quests are well voice acted - about 450 hours worth - more than any other AAA mmorpg- many of which are not even voice acted.   As for PVP, its regarded as one of the best (although game performance needs a boost imo)

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

For a good non staged, community planned PvP  with community fights like fortress or castle invasions, guild vs guild among other things, look at Korean or Chinese titles.

Also no idea on the suggestions offered previously, but also I think by experience that leveling by PvP is a lie, because:

    1. You can't PvP at level 1.
    2. There is not enough money to level by PvP only.
    3. There are not enough gear provided by PvP vendors at lower levels.  Gear is usually at certain soft caps, and game cap.
    4. With a couple of skills you will not be effective or have fun in PvP at all.

And except for sandboxes, have been in most incarnations of themeparks available, from quest rails, to quest find your way, to grind no quest.

You are so right about how the Asian games offer real pvp. As for leveling doing PVP you really can do this in Echo Of Soul. You can start pvp at level 10 because 1-10 is really just the tutorial. From PVP in Echo Of Soul you earn Money, XP and Warrior Badges to buy gear. I took my first toon all the way to level 55 and the cap is 60 from doing nothing but pvp. Only reason I did not take him all the way to 60 is because I rerolled to another class that I found I liked better.

Not sure if you prefer open world or WvW, but if you like BG/Arena style action combat that actually takes skill, then I recommend  Smite.  It's great for some quick, down and dirty, player skill based PVP.  It's actually a MOBA, but if you play in Arena or Assault mode then it's just like playing a BG or Arena in an MMO becuase the focus isn't pushing lanes in those modes.  Plus it has third person view like an MMO and action combat that uses skill shots.  It's f2p with character unlocks that are easily attainable.  The community is more toxic than any MMO due to it being a MOBA, but the combat is way better than most of the games that have came out in the last  year or two.

If you're just looking to PvP at end game, then Archeage will definitely be a better choice. Patron status only boosts your labor points and labor points regeneration. Basically, if you want to make money, you'll definitely want to be a patron. Besides that, there's not a whole lot of things you should worry about.

You really have nothing to lose, just download it and play it. The class combinations will either be your downfall or your advantage depending on what you choose to level up. The grind to max level is not nearly as bad and long as Aion.

PvP in MMOs is in a pretty bad spot right now homie, a sad truth.  I'm hoping crowfall/camelot unchained can change that up but as of now its pretty damn stale.

Echo of Souls and Archeage are both garbage, for different reasons. ESO is a great game and worth the price.
  • zaberfangxzaberfangx Member UncommonPosts: 1,796

Right now any pvp in any mmo haves it's up and down, none of them have good playing field for people to get in to and enjoy, there are people out there tell you this game is bad or good, they can be right or wrong but just how mmo in general they work to much on nerfing then buff to keep things fun and exciting, even endgame mmo thats mostly pvp, have a road to much long road and boring one to get to to enjoy, I know should be a grind but grind show not be for ever long to get to a level so you have a good playing field with other people, thats what right not problem with mmo pvp so far seeing, but there people love the grind they love power can't blame them if they wanted to be stronger.

It's not even close OP. Trust me. ESO is something different.  Something pretty damn special. This is coming from a pure pvp'r for years across many different mmorpgs who needs customization to stay engaged.

  • maskedweaselmaskedweasel Member LegendaryPosts: 12,195

Well it seems like the OP isn't going to be very happy with a lot of games out there.  Some games are too grindy while other games have no "progression"

As far as GW2 goes, I don't know what kind of evolution you're going for, but most end game grinds are based around "gear" and that is the same thing with GW2.   If you want to pursue the best gear you can possibly get it will take you a number of months or longer to do so.  This gear doesn't affect you in structured PvP (which if you think its too easy, you're probably playing hotjoins or unranked) but it does affect you in WvW.

There are some strict WvW players, and while you'll have the WvW farms, you have a lot of options for solo WvW PvP content.

Also in the next few months they're revamping the traits system which is going to change a lot of how people spec their characters.
