Hi all I'm currently looking for a new game to try and like usual I am trying to find what I know isn't there, but you never know so here goes.
What I'm looking for: FFXIV + EQ2 + GW2. A game with a great story, random events, things to do aside from questing, in depth crafting, player housing, interesting dungeons that require strategy and thought, excellent graphics. My computer can handle anything released on full so I'd like to see some amazing sights. I prefer fantasy but at this point I'd try sci fi.
Specifically it has to have in order of importance:
- Player housing
- Lfg search tool (preferably a queue like system)
- No forced pvp (if it's in there that's fine just no forcing)
- Good graphics (eq2 is worst I'd go in terms of looks)
- Random events
- Interesting dungeons
- Raiding and other interesting things for endgame
- Worthwhile crafting
Games I've played and why I'm not playing them:
ESO: I got bored with it very early on. I was 16 when I stopped. As much as I love skyrim there's something about this game that's missing. Oh and the guild auction house system I abhorred.
FFXIV: the only thing missing from this game is player housing. I know there's guild housing but I don't trust that I put all my time, effort, gil into a house only to have the guild kick me out and my money is wasted. I honestly should be playing this game as that's where my heart is due to years of playing FFXI but sometimes it gets too...not sure the word...like in order to unlock series 5 you have to go do instance A, quest series 2, and talk to an npc in another city. Those who have played it should know what I mean.
GW2: like it but there's no housing really, got to endgame and got bored.
RIFT: graphics are fine, gameplay is fine, art style is terrible and irks me, I hate Trion.
Archeage: pvp forced for getting anything and anywhere, housing was tight, crafting restrictions and items to craft suck, this game is the reason I hate Trion.
SWTOR: it's okay, the grinding part in between story quests is boring. Maybe someone can update me on the changes in this as I haven't played in a year and change.
EQ2: too many abilities, too many quests, everyone is at cap and no one is around. Logged in the other day, felt dead.
Neverwinter has no housing but otherwise is ok,
Tera was boring grind fest, Aion simply don't want to try
LOTRO graphics are terrible and I just can't with how female Hobbits run.
Wildstar: if I wanted to play wow I'd just play wow.
Oh and World of Warcraft. I played that game for 10 years. No thank you. I wouldn't care if they had everything I was looking for nothing would make me go back.
I know this is a long shot but just curious as to what someone may have found that I'm missing. And yes I know I'm picky.

I'm guessing you were still there when Strongholds released then. Since then the level cap's been raised to 60 with a new expansion last December. (Shadow of Revan)
Most recently it's gotten the Outfitter system to make switching looks more easy. http://dulfy.net/2015/03/20/swtor-outfit-designer-guide/
Also, they are currently running a 12x Class xp bonus event for subscribers. So you could skip the grinding parts between the main story quests. (Mission rewards have also been adjusted to reflect this, and quick travel times have been reduced across the board. With the right Legacy upgrades a subscriber can teleport all over the place now without a cooldown. xD)

There have been QoL changes and lots of fixes, along with a dye system and some other little things.
The biggest change was fairly recent, when they added the first part of the Justice system, allowing you to pickpocket NPCs and fence stolen goods. (And get your skull caved in by angry guards if you're new and have no idea what you're doing. xD)
And as you probably know, they went B2P. So you could easily go and check it out whenever you like.

I thought you could buy your own house in FFXIV?
I know they are expensive but I was sure you could buy a private house?
I don't think so. But then again, I don't actively play the game, so I could easily be wrong (or my info's outdated).

I might try out swtor again, I played an imperial agent up to cap when it first came out and I was enthralled with it.
I'm more confused than up to date now actually, but thanks nonetheless.
Judging by Paleocat's post it sounds more like you "rent" an apartment from the guild (IF they have a house to begin with). Not exactly what I usually count under player housing, but I guess it counts more or less.
And the Agent's definitely one of the most fun storylines to play through!

FFXIV does indeed have housing for a single person, each city state has a very large housing area, and there are single houses around the guild houses for you to purchase.
However, housing is an extreme luxury in FFXIV, I'm fairly certain the cheapest house **PLOT** is around 4 million, and that DOES NOT include your house.
