A quick basic setup for an Amarr Frigate to kill NPC Cruisers in 0.2-0.4 Space. (Not sure if this will work for other races ships... but don't be afraid to try it out. You can always get your money back somehow. Just make sure you have Insurance and a small clone)

Ship: Punisher
Weapons: Close Range Lasers fitted w/ low power consuming crystals. (Optimal Range @ or under 2800m)
Extra High Slot: Small Vampire
Medium Slots: Afterburner, Statis Webifier
Low Slots: Capacitor Recharger, 100mm Armor, Armor Rep, Any Extra Armor Boosters

The Trick:
Get in close and fast w/ you Afterburner. Snare the NPC w/ your Webber and orbit at 1800m (this should put you at optimal range w/ their movment) Don't take off the Afterburner, keep it on. Suck as much power from them as you can w/ your Vampire to keep your AB & Armor Rep & Weapons working. If the NPC is alone he shouldn't do any dmg to you at all, if he does, it shouldn't be very much. But if there are other NPCs they will hit your armor.... you will be ok as long as you keep your Armor Rep on which means you need to watch your power and keep that up as much as you can. Your main fall here is your Power.

WATCH OUT FOR PIRATES~! These are players who can and will kill you in any Space 0.4 or below. Stay in systems where you are alone or almost alone and look at everyone who enter's info to see if they have a low Security Status or a bounty. If they do, stay where you are and be ready to run if they show up.

    For those worried about getting your keys by email, please don't. My computer is 100% spyware free, and I only look at them for 2 seconds while I copy and paste them. CCP doesn't sell or spam, either. I've used a secure and unique email with them, and in 2 years I've only ever gotten Bi-Yearly newsletters and support responses from them.

    Anyway.. Enjoy!

    Additional Info...

    On this upcoming Tuesday (February 21, 2006) the game server will be down for a full 24 hours. This is because EVE is getting a brand new shiny server cluster with 3 times the capacity of the current one!!! WOOHOO!!! (note that this does not mean a new shard, it is replacing the old server cluster)

    What this means for trial'ers is that if you are looking to start playing within the next two days, you will have a surprise break just when you're starting to get into things. Another thing is that CCP has not refunded playing time for long periods of downtime for just over year, and they have made no comment either way towards what they will do this time. So this means that not only will your playing be interrupted, you might also have your trial cut a day short.

    Just a warning for those who aren't aware of this.

    You can still request a Trial Key now if you like, and I - or someone else - will try and get them out ASAP. They are good for a few months at the least, so you will definitely be able to use them after the server upgrade is finished Wednesday morning.
