I can't understand that they expect me to just buy the game and hope it's any good!

What happend to a free 7 day trial and then buy it or be unable to play until you buy it?

€50 +/ is a lot to just hope the game is what you hope the game is and feels like when you actually play it.  AH well must just be me who is a bit care full spending money after the wildstar disaster.

You had a 50/50 shot. I have been playing ESO since it came out and still having a blast. It will keep you busy till something better comes out in whenever that is. Any game you want to play cost money unless it's total crap I guess. This game is good. People complain because it's not great but what out there is? World of Tanks is fun also but for a MMO I play ESO until maybe Camelot Unchained or Star Citizen proves themselves.

Free trails leads to Gold Bot spam.

I prefer it the way it currently is

Not saying it does not have downsides but i think the potential upsides are worth it.

Just to state a few obvious upsides: more active players, more game sales, more talk about the game etc etc.

The point is to take your money before you play the game because there is no way you would spend 50€ on the game otherwise.

I agree but you can get around that easily with a NO TRADE clause.

Games really do  need a free  trial ,even FFXIV has one and Square has not been known for Free trials.

If i had nothing to play right now,i would chooce EQ2 just because i know it is robust and offers free gameplay although restricted. At least you can play free for a very long time and just invest into the game at higher levels when you can start unlocking HQ gear with money.I knew lot's of people who played completely free until max levels, then unlocked gear/items/spells for a one time cost.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I will play TESO without hesitation as there is two bold realites that we can't ignore:

Playing Korean grindfests is not healthy... And now there are a lot of them in different shapes and levels of quality.  I'm playing Echo of Souls right now. I will never learn from the lessons of Lineage II and... The Elder Scrolls Online is a western game with a western view of things about gaming. Only for the last reason is worth to try it and spend 50 bucks. I can't play it as my desktop PC that can run it on max settings is on the repairer shop but as soon as is back home I will play TESO, in 3 months I will have amortized the game. And I can play a game for a lot of time. I was a Lineage 2 player, and still I am, so that TESO is a winning horse for me.

Just try it. If you don't like it you at least would have attemtep to get into a good quality game. If you want absolutely free things or very cheap stick to the Korean games, that in return give a poor game to you.  Echo Of Souls seems to be different, I hope someone makes a critic that simply says everything you can find in the game, both positive and negative and doesn't say 'bland' as 20 times, as those kind of reviews does not help us players to chose. Those critics are vey good to see and fashionable but helpless.

Back to the point. If you play it, we aware that the current state of the MMORPG world is not so promising with the demise of Black Desert to become a Themepark. It will happen constantly as shareholders want gains and the only sandbox out there that is really a sandbox is EVE, and  not everyone has to like the game as the  majority of people can't stick with the ships-thing. But paraphrasing Jack Kerouac I would say: a great white father travels the West - and is The Repopulation -. But we'll wait until it's in a playable quality state and not a beta or whatever its state is right now.

    That's it.

Maybe they don't want tourists? I know many games start or go ftp and they want everybody to jump in and try it, but maybe is more going for peeps who play games for the long haul or make some investment in the game. Maybe they value a more stable environment and game jumpers joining to be asshats for a month, negatively impacting the community or vibe of game, and then moving on when they get bored. I'm just throwing out a reason for buying box or no trial, as I've never played Eso, but would be interested at their rational from biz standpoint.

I think it has more than enough to justify B2P.

Is it the second coming of some legendary game, or some ground breaking phenomenon?  No!

If you were really interested in this one, you should have picked it up on steam for $20 before the B2P announcement.  Most people knew it was coming, just like we all know F2P or B2P is coming for Wildstar.  I have my $20 boxed copy of Wildstar sitting here just waiting for the announcement as I can activate it right before the change and get all the subscriber benefits when it makes the change.

Theres a years worth of gameplay Videos online, it's easy eneough to work our if a game appeals.

For what it's worth I returned on nov the 11th, and I'm about 350 hours in and I'm still playing through the quality storylines on my initial char with no content repeated - the game is of a magnitude bigger than any other mmorpg to date, it's worth full price for that alone.

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

Do you have the same trouble with single player games? Demos, for the most part have completely died out.

Some ESO gamers found some code on the PTS that suggested there might be trial accounts in the future.

It's a good game until the boring end game, worth the box price because there's a fun quest system but don't expect to play further after the end of the solo content because dungeons and raids are terrible and class mechanics are simply done bad.

A game like this should have been done with a focus on sandbox elements, better action combat and less WOW clone PVE.

My only advice I can offer is check out as much footage and live gameplay as you can via youtube and twitch there is a fair amount this should help you make a informed decision.

OP you did not tell us what you like to do in an mmo to allow us to tell you how the game will or won't satisfy those wants.

There is plenty of game play video out there..just watch...or be more explicit here about what you want.
