It's been four and a half months since BioWare Austin released the second full expansion of Star Wars: The Old Republic, entitled Shadow of Revan. At the launch and since that time, the level cap increased to 60, everyone's skill trees were replaced by Disciplines, they've added story encompassing three new planets, we now have a better means of managing our characters' outfits, and there have been a few new Flashpoints and Operations. Today, we're going to take a look at how it all fits together and what's been going on with the game recently. Fair warning, there will be full spoilers on the story up to and including the end of events on Ziost in Game Update 3.2: Rise of the Emperor.

The story was excellent, and I enjoyed having a "crew" again similar to when going through Makeb. The Class Story bits were fun as well, and it was great to see some familiar faces again (like General Garza).
The only complaint from a lot of people is that it's pretty much identical whether you play it Empire or Republic side, as opposed to each side having their own separate storyline.

nice post i did love the story aswel and i cant wait to see what they do next
ye the world could be more open world like tattoine
I wish Tattooine was open world. The first thing that happens on Tat is that you run into a death field if you strike out from the starport. Then you enter several large corridors but they are all full of scripted events or static populations of mobs for use only in quests. Tattooine and Hoth had the most potential of the worlds in SWTOR, but are really for the most part not someplace you could hang out in for any length of time.
I wish that Tatooine had been the last world in the game so that it had a purpose for max level characters, but even that wouldn't have been enough. There was nothing to do out there when I played. Which is sad because the look of it was beautiful.
That is SWTOR, a linear instanced game with invisible walls.
If they made a open world sandbox with those graphics like you were referring to WGG JTL, I would be playing it.
"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"
It's a real shame, yeah.
Tatooine and Hoth are some of the most iconic Star Wars worlds, it'd probably go a long way to have some more things take place there. (And to expand upon the current in game regions)
At least they added a Tatooine Stronghold.

I really enjoyed it too. I took my Vanguard through first, then my Sith Warrior. About to take my Guardian through here in the next few weeks. I'm a pretty casual player also.
I'm in the same boat though as to where they are going to take it next.

That's why I eventually unsubbed. It's a subpar Star Wars MMORPG. No meaningful space in a Star Wars MMORPG (yeah, I realize a lot of things happen outside of space in Star Wars, but come on, it's a huge part of the IP), badly made (the hero engine should never be considered an okay gaming engine to use for an MMORPG!), and a heavy focus on the cash shop over meaningful content updates (the game literally goes months and months with the only updates being freaking cartel shop ones).
The one thing that SWTOR does well is the quests, but that was not enough to keep me subbed when I felt like Bioware and EA could just care less about insuring to the best of their abilities to make sure the game is as fun as it can possibly be. They'd rather try to milk both the F2P players and subbed players (seriously, even subbed players lose out on basic stuff like 90% of the emotes being locked away in cartel packs).
It doesn't help that SWTOR has a community that can literally accept zero criticism of the game, no matter how valid. The one thing I detest about gaming communities is an inability to remain unbiased, and to be able to see a game for its faults as well as what it does well. I used to be like that pre-GW2, but that game made me realize that being so blind that you can't accept a game's faults as well its strengths makes you narrow minded.

That's with most MMOs.
Try posting a valid criticism of a certain Blizzard fantasy MMO game. You got 80% of their fanbase writing reports to forum admins trying to get you warned or banned because you said something bad about their addictional game.
"going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win"
Back when I played said Blizzard Failtasy MMO I used to pick at the flaws just to see how many times my handle came up in the forums... my highest count before I stopped playing, 233 in one hour for calling out the ugliness of the farmville content in MoP...
The whole insane belief that the games content is worth insulting other players is completely retarded, yet Developers and publishers depend on the sheep to keep their sub par games afloat.
When I played SWTOR I had some fun with it.. I played Sith and bounced between the classes... the story was lively and honestly I liked the missions.... Then I got my first starship and nearly fainted from the blaspheme. It was a complete tragedy.. of epic proportions... and players let it happen... they didnt revolt....
So maybe I had over reacted.... Then I did a Mission and the rails.. Oh My God! the rails!!!!
I wasnt wrong.. it just plain sucked... Lucas should be ashamed.. no wait.. it Dismal now... er Disney... anyway...
I meandered through he content ignored the freemium cash shop BS... honestly, if you think F2P games are truly free you need a shrink... Bioware has made more money from F2P than from subs... believe it....
Rise of Hutt Cartel came out... I played... got bored and quit.... Alot of opportunities were missed by Bioware... they dropped the ball either through ignorance or spite... either way this game isnt worth the monitor I had seen it on.. screw it Im still looking for that game that just blows me away...
Played: UO, LotR, WoW, SWG, DDO, AoC, EVE, Warhammer, TF2, EQ2, SWTOR, TSW, CSS, KF, L4D, AoW, WoT
Playing: The Secret World until Citadel of Sorcery goes into Alpha testing.
Tired of: Linear quest games, dailies, and dumbed down games
Anticipating:Citadel of Sorcery
I agree the new expansion is excellent, well worth the $20, I even resubscribed!
May the force be with you!
I agree, a little to many restrictions for me.

For most people the problem isn't the criticism, it's the delivery. In that post of yours you pretty much can't write a paragraph without throwing insults to either the company or the game involved. When you do that, it's closer to flame baiting than actual productive criticism, and you can bet your ass that a lot of people will report you for it.
I've done my share of complaining about GSF, the dyes and various other things I don't like about swtor, and I haven't gotten warned once.
I never really bothered with Blizzard's forums, so I don't know how good or bad the mods are on there though compared to Bioware's.
