down for me atm too
Lately, the website has been down sporatically. A few months ago, the comm cable to Iceland was actually broken, and last month their DNS died. Their web servers also sometimes get hit hard, especially after a weekend. I am not sure what is happening this time.
The thing is, while the main web site is hosted at CCP HQ in Iceland, the game servers, database, and Insider content (forums, news center, account managment) are in London. So when one goes down, the other might still be up. This is the case today it seems.
To connect to EVE Insider, use the URL myeve.eve-online.com.
Also, different issue, for when those pesky DNS problems pop up, paste the following lines into your HOSTS file in your WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/DRIVERS/ETC directory. If you are not sure how to do this just by reading the previous line, please, do not attempt. That is my disclaimer.
157.157.139.201 myeve.eve-online.com
63.240.89.10 support.eve-online.com
157.157.139.100 secure.eve-online.com
87.237.38.100 www.eve-online.com
157.157.139.90 testpatch.eve-online.com
212.187.162.100 www2.eve-online.com
And that sould get you to the web site.
thanks, but even when entering those IP addresses into my browser (FF) it doesnt connect. Rellyl annoying because I wanted to reactivate my EvE account and start playing tonight ahead of the HW upgrade
Ive been having this same problem since between 1am and 3am (EST) and now from about 9am (EST ) to present. Im thinking its a problem on there side in London because I can successfully ping/tracert the IPs that Nu11u5 posted above.
Hope they get it resolved soon but, no telling since it has been a problem all day it seems.
The new hardware upgrade might resolve some of these issues with connections being dropped. Last I heard, the new server will be hosted at a new Data-center and uses a new ISP. I might be wrong on this, only once it is up and running will we find out for sure. Hopefully, the systems' Post-Traumatic-Stress-Syndrome after its installation doesn't last long.
