Exanima - Pretty damn unique game

I highly recommend you fellows who aren't afraid of a bit of ass-whooping to check out Exanima.

It's a pretty unique isometric game that tries to feature real physics and (semi-) realistic swordplay. The asmosphere is spot on as well: you're basically dropped in a dark underworld place with no clue what is happening and everything tries to kill you. Btw, there's permadeath too. Though you can sort of cheat around it by copying a file from your %appdata/roaming% folder in time.

The game is a prelude to a more complete RPG featuring this engine, Sui Generis. Can't say I'd ever heard about it before, but it's definitely on my watchlist now.

LOL I dont like my chances in a game with permadeath where everything tries to kill you....Good luck with your game but it is definitely a niche.

Most definitely. It's not "my game" btw :p

The full project will not feature permadeath apparently. But there will be serious consequences for death, a bit ala Dark Souls I guess.

I'm digging the use of physics in games.  When done right, it can offer gameplay that is really fun to master.  See the Trials series for an example.  While it starts off seemingly easy, by the time you get to the later levels, you will be crashing hundreds of times to get through a level, but if you look back at how much better you've become, its really rewarding (for me at least).

Just wanted to bump this and say, wow, this game is neat, and has a classic feel where it takes a lot of time to get good at it.  You will get your ass kicked, but once you start to get the hang of the controls, it feels pretty amazing.

For people who like aim and reflex games based on a touch of realism and physics, you will probably dig this.  Don't be discouraged at how awkward it feels start out, press on for a few hours and you will get the hang of it.
